After failing the admittance exam two times in a row Durkheim was admitted to the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris, France. Durkheim would continue studies in teaching pedagogy. -

Influences and Changes
During this period Durkheim stuggled with the rigors of study in Paris, France. However he became increasingly drawn to the theories of his teachers and fellow students. Durkheim was drawn to the ideals of a Republic which embodied anti-clerical reforms to education which would pave the way to a free national system, compulsory, secular education. -

Durkheim passed his aggregation (an entrance exam to teaching in secondary schools), and soon began to teach philosophy. -

Annee Sociologique
Durkheim founded the Annee Sociologique in which he focused on social sciences and the division of intellectual labour. The Annee would provide reviews on any sociological literature that was being published. -
Goal Attained: Professor
Durkheim was named professor of “Science of Education and Sociology”. -
World War I
On August 3, 1914 Germany invaded Belgium in Northern France, which led to Durkheim co-ordinating efforts to subvert German propaganda by publishing war information. -
Died from health related complications
Died from complications arising from stroke, stress, and depression from loss of his son.
