Willem Dampier
Dampier was a British explorer. He sailed around the world tkree times and explored Austalia's west coast. On his first voyage he sailed in a ship called the Cygnet. He named Cygnet Bay near Broome. Some Aborigines were warlike and shouted and threw spears. Others were friendly. -
William Dampier
In 1699 Dampier commanded the vessell the Roebuck and sailed across the Indian Ocean to New Holland. He used Abel Tasman's charts to navigate. He sailed north along the west coast of Australia and named Shark Bay. He made lots of notes about Australian plants and animals. -
