Discoveries of the Cell Theory

  • Robert Hooke

Robert Hooke, born in England, was the first person who had discovered cells by using the microscope. The assignment for microsopic studies was first given to Christopher Wren. HHowver, he was not able to do accomplish it, so Robert Hooke took his assignment and had succeed that assignment.
  • Anton van Leeuwenhoek

Anton was the first person who had discovered the nucleus in the cell. This could not have been achieved if he had not made the microscope that could zoom up to 250X.
  • Matthias Schleiden

Matthias was a German botanist who had worked with Theodor Schwann. Both of them had came up with the fact that all living organisms were made out of cells together. He first researched about plants and when he had seen Theodor's observations, they realized that all organisms are made up of cells.
  • Theodor Schwann

Theodor had stated that all living organism are made up of cells. He had found cells in plant and in animal which then proved that all living organisms have cells in their body.
  • Rudolf Virchow

Rudolf had developed a method to isolate the cell membrane and had also further the concepts and ideas of pathology. Not only that, but he had also eexplained of how cancer spreads in the human body.
  • John Gurdon

He had brought up the ide of the nuclear transplant. A nuclear transplant is when you take he DNA of an organism and then mix it with the DNA of another species to make a new species.
  • Lynn Margulis

An American botanist who had discovered the endosymbiosis theory where its states that a cell can have two cell memberences.
  • Shinya Yamanaka

A Nobel Prize winner for medicine to show and prove that a mature cell can be transformed into a stem cell
