  • WW1 timeframe

    World War 1 was known as the Great War. After the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. The war concluded in 1918 resulting in more than 16 million casualties of soldiers and civilians.
  • Lusitania

    Lusitania

    The Lusitania ship sank within 20 minutes of being hit by a German torpedo strike. The ship was the most luxurious and fastest to have sailed, like the Titanic. 1,198 of the 1959 people aboard died.
  • Great Migration timeframe

    The migration lasted until 1970 that relocated more than 6 million African Americans from the rural South to the cities of the North, Midwest and West.
  • Year of first woman elected to Congress (Rankin)

    First ever woman in congress was Rankin, Jeannette who served 2 terms in the House which coincided with World War I and World War II. Rankin strived to expand voting rights for women.
  • Lenin led a Russian Revolution

    Lenin served as head of government of Soviet Russia. He took advantage of the unstable new government of Russia and overthrew it.

    Proposal made by President Wilson in a speech outlining his vision for ending World War I in a way that would prevent such a conflagration from occurring again.
