Neil Papworth sent "Merry Christmas" to Richard Jarvis at Vodafone. This impacts me because this is what began texting and I use texting as one of my main forms of communication with people.

The Invention of Bluetooth

Invented by telecom vendor Ericsson. This personally impacts me because I use bluetooth to connect to several devices and use it so that I can talk on the phone safely while I drive.

Wi-Fi begins

Vic Hayes leads the IEEE committee that created the 802.11 standard . This is the standard that made WiFi possible.

Creation of AIM

AOL releases its instant messenger to the public. When I was younger I used to use AIM often to talk to my friends and it was a useful tool for quick communication at that time.

PlayStation 2 is released

Sony's second system in the PlayStation family is released for sale. It is the best-selling video game console in history. This technological development is important to my life because it was the first system that I played video games on and the system that really got me into playing games.

Picnik is released

A free online photo editing website that allowed people to add fun effects to their photos without indepth knowledge of photo editing. This effected me personally because it was what taught me about photo editing and made me intrested in it.

XBOX 360 Released

Microsoft's second generation game console is realeased to the market. Video games are a signifigant part of my life and this console is in particular. I spend much of my free time playing on it and talking to friends on it.

Iphone Released

Apple releases its first smartphone. This impacts me because it was my first smartphone and it allowed me to have access to different programs (apps) and the internet while on the go.

Television switches from analog to digital

This created better resolution and sound for the user, as well as the posibility for more channels. It provided HD quality tv and freed up bandwith. This impacted me for all these reasons.

Apple's Ipad is released

Apple released it's first tablet. This brought about a revival for tablet computers. It is important to me personally because I use my tablet for entertainment, school work, and for many other uses.
