    What makes this day significant is the birth of the United States of America as an Independent nation. A nation that wanted to be free to govern themselves, make their own decision and was determined to live free.

    10 Amendment of the Constitution 1791
    Also known as the Bill of Rights the first 10 Amendments of the constitution was first proposed by Congress in 1789, after receiving the ratification of Legislative of three-fourth of the several states it became apart of the Constitution on DEC 15, 1791. Two of the most important Amendments are the 1st (freedom of speech) and the 2nd (the right to bear arms) the 2nd Amendment in my opinion is by far the most controversial today.

    The commerce clause refers to Article 1 Section 8, Clause 3 of the Constitution which gives Congress the power " to regulate Commerce with foreign nations and among the several states. After many rulings of the Supreme Court it enabled Congress not only to regulate the act of commerce itself, but everything connected to it. Ex Congress can regulate working hours and institute the 40 hour week.

    One of the most important Supreme Court cases on federal power it states that Congress has implied powers derived from those listed in Article 1 Section 8 giving them power to establish a national bank. They impose a tax on all notes of bank not chartered in Maryland.

    The 13th Amendment abolished slavery in the United State and provides that neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crimes where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exists within the United States.

    The 19th Amendment was ratified on Aug 18th 1920 granting women the right to vote. Lucy Burns was the suffrage leader. On that day millions of women exercise their rights to vote and that they, like men deserve all the rights and responsibility of citizenship, took nearly a 100 years to win that right.

    The Affordable Care Act also know as ObamaCare was passed in 2010 to help make healthcare more accessible and affordable for the average American.It is a federal law signed by President Barack Obama and up held by the US Supreme Court on June 28th 2012.The law gives power to ongoing efforts by health and human services. The reforms includes new benefits, rights and protections,rules for insurance companies,taxes, tax breaks,funding,spending, education, new job creation and more.
