    USB Flash Drive
    The Universal Serial Bus (USB) Flash Drive made it’s commercial debut in late 2000. Flash drives were created to store large amounts of information in a convenient , portable way. Flash drives eventually made Floppy Disks obsolete. Fun Fact: National USB Flash Drive day is April 5. This fun holiday is it commemorate the date that inventors filed for the first USB Flash Drive Patent.
  • Bluetooth

    Bluetooth
    The Bluetooth mobile phone made its debut to store shelves. The purpose of Bluetooth was intended to temporarily unite the Personal Computer (PC) and Cellular industries together until something better came along. The name Bluetooth is actually named after King Harold “Bluetooth” Gormsson. I find it neat that in King Harald’s time he United Nations and the inventors of Bluetooth also united others in the field of technology.

    YouTube
    YouTube was registered in February of 2005 and was officially launched in December 2005. The website was created by three PayPal co-workers Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim. The vision of YouTube was to allow people to share uploaded videos of their interests. This was not as successful therefore the trio decided to pivot to general video-sharing. YouTube now has become a platform for the world to share videos on original work, interests and educational material.

    iPhone
    The first Apple iPhone made it’s debut in January 2007 and was sold in June. Apple Co-Founder and late CEO, Steve Job laid the foundation for smartphones including how we, the world communicate and access information through the internet. The iPhone was new during this era as it was viewed as a three-in-one mobile device as it offered internet, iPod capabilities and also a mobile phone. Since 2007 Apple has released 14 models, also including the Apple iPads, Apple watches and various accesories.

    Square, Inc.
    Square merchant mobile payment reader debuted in 2010. The square credit card reader was invented by Jack Dorsey to assist small business owners in making credit and debit card transactions more convenient. The credit card reader that debuted in 2010 was a 1 inch square that plugged into the headset jack of an smart phone. This invention made life convenient for both entrepreneurs and customers. Today we can see many mobile card readers making big bulky cash registers obsolete.
