Beautiful, bright, green flashes are in the sky. There are tons of shooting starts flying through the sky. These were what blinded everyone. Bill is disapointed that he isn't able to see them. But in the end he was saved by the triffid's sting.

Bill meets up with Josella, who is another person who can see. They get to know each other very well and try to stick together.

At the University they meet the colonel. They dicide to join with him and other sighted men and women.

Coker and his gang set up a fake fire alarm to catch sighted people. He needs people with sight so they can help with the groups.

Bill leaves and is heading towards the Sussex downs where he believes Josella is. When he is driving he feels how bad it to be completely alone.
