  • Daveed attends Berkeley High School

    Around 1996, Daveed attends the Berkeley High School where he pursues a career in theatre arts.
  • Daveed attends Brown University

    After graduating High school, he goes straight for Brown University. He begins taking part in athletic activities before delving more into a theatre focus at the university.
  • Daveed joins a rap group

    Daveed within his first year of being at Brown University, joined a rap group called Soul Cypher. Which he quoted "We weren't very good, but it was fun." and they mostly performed at friends parties.
  • 9/11 Attacks on the World Trade Center

    On September 11th, 2001. A terrorist attack was launched against the World Trade Center which caused for a armstice and hatred of The Middle East and anti-semetic behavior which most likely effected Daveed and his Jewish background.

    Daveed briefly works as a substitute teacher

    Shortly after graduating, Daveed takes a year to do substitute work at Oakland School of the Arts, though this didn't last long as he wanted to pursue back into theatre.

    In 2008, Daveed played in Temptation. A German legend play written by a Czech playwright, Václav Havel. And in which he played as the role Dr. Henry Foustka. (Main Character)
  • Daveed becomes a vocalist for a rap group

    Daveed in 2010, became a vocalist for an experimental hip hop and rap group called Clipping. Which was founded in Los Angeles. He worked with two others named William Hutson, and Jonathan Snipes
  • Daveed joins first versions of Hamilton

    Lin-Manuel Miranda, a playwright, composer, and musician invited Daveed to read and hear the first early versions of Hamilton after meeting him whilst in another rap group.

    Daveed continues performing in local Shakespeare productions

    Daveed didn't only work with Miranda, but instead participated in multiple local productions of Shakespeare plays.
  • Daveed begins dating Raver-Lampman

    While on set for one of Daveed's roles, he found interest with Raver who was co-acting with him which eventually led them to work together and soon come out by saying they were dating.
  • Daveed finally performs in Broadway

    Daveed got recognized to be a lead roles for Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette in Broadway and continued with these roles later in the year after they were moved.

    For his performance, Diggs won the 2016 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical, as well as a 2016 Grammy Award for the cast album. Diggs played his final performance in the show on July 15, 2016.

    Daveed's success in music

    Right around the time of his rewards that he garnered, Daveed began composing more of his music works with popular artists like Kendrick Lamar, and even Elmo. He also starred in multiple touring shows around the country where he rapped a lot of the time.

    In December 2020, Diggs and close friends William Hutson and Johnathan Snipes, partnered with Disney Channel to produce a festive song for Hanukkah.
