Dave Pelzer: The Lost Boy

  • Premise

    I read the Lost Boy by Dave Pelzer, the second book of the "a child called "it"" series. I decided to read this book because I had already read "A child Called It". I have also heard this book is a very good book, but it is about a little boy who got badly abused by his mother and did nothing to receive it.
  • Winter of 1970

    Starving and shivering in the dark sitting on his hands because he was told to sit on his hands at the bottom of the steps and sit in the dark of the cold winters. While mother was giving Dave's brother's love, Dave was sitting and freezing in the garage
  • deciding point.

    Dave is deciding if he should go because mother told him to get out of the house and that she never loved him.

    Dave leaves and he is proud of it, but he is very scared his mom will yell at him, so he doesn't stop. His mother and father are having an argument and Dave's father thinks his mother forces him to do everything but she wants to prove to him that she doesn't. She tells Dave to leave so he does.

    Dave runs away andgoes toa restaurant a d take s aquarter from the men playing pool. The man notices Dave take thequarter and tells Dave he had to give it back. Dave tells the man went be did it which was because he was hungry and mark said he was going to make him a pizza he told Dave his name was mark and mark actually called the cops but he still made Dave a pizza and gave it to him while he was in the cop car.

    Dave is at the police department and father tells cops that Dave ran away because his mother said that he could not ride his bike so because of that he had tomgo back to his mother and father said mother had been worried sick in the car.
  • Lillian and ruby

    When Dave goes to the orphanage he gets introduced to Lillian and Ruby. Lillian tells all the kids to call her either Lillian or mom, so he forgets so we she calls for him he responds with yes ma'am. Sovthe. She reminds hi. To just call her mom.
  • Social workers

    Mrs. Gold was the social worker for Dave, and Mrs. Gold was helping Dave out, helping him get away from his mother. Mrs. Gold was so nice and caring, Dave liked her a lot.
  • the bike ride

    Dave and big Larry go on a bike ride and goes past mothers home, Dave stares into the home for a minute before he sees his brothers heads pop up from the window, and he gets in trouble when he gets back to the orphanage for going past his mother's house on his bike because Lillian gets a call and mother is complaining about him being by her house.
  • Orphanage

    Dave goes to an orphanage home, and he makes friends with lots of the kids there, they instantly accept Dave because they went through that in some form.
  • court

    At approximately about the age of twelve, Dave and Mrs. Gold go to court and Dave goes to an orphanage because the judge decided not to put Dave throughthat anymore. and mother is crying because she is losing him forever. Mother says the words " have a good life" and it plays over and over again in Dave's mind.

    Dave goes to a picnic when he first goes to the orphanage and it was a big family reunion of all the people that were in the orphanage. But it brings back memories of whe. He would go there with his. Other and brothers when he was younger.

    At eight years old, Dave's mother held his right arm over a gas stove and held it there until it was burnt.

    This was an inspiring book that many kids should read. This book made me realize how hard it is for them to get away from their parents. On a scale of one through ten I give this book a ten, because this book is very sad but it gets better as it goes, and he gets in some trouble.
