While at work, Darius was getting picked on by Trent Bolger and Chip Cusanamo until the manager kicked them out because the zero tolerance for bullying policy. Trent and Chip got back at Darius by stealing his bike wheels which meant he had to call his dad for a ride. Darius has depression and his relationship with his father is not very strong. -

Chip Breaks Darius's Backpack
In the hallways at school, Darius passed Chip. As Chip tried to apologize to Darius, Darius tried to avoid him but Chip grabbed his backpack to say he was sorry about his bike but Darius was feeling heated and he yanked his backpack away breaking the zipper. This made Darius feel worse about himself. -

Darius and his family go to Yazd, Iran to visit their grandparents who they have only seen through video chat. Darius's family (except for his father) are all persian or half persian. -

Darius Makes his First Real Friend
When Darius wakes up at his grandparents house he goes outside to see if his grandfather needed any help. His grandfather was watering the garden from the roof of their house. There was a young boy who lived down the street name Sohrab. Sohrab usually came to help if any was needed. Darius's grandfather said that they would be great friends. When Darius and Sohrab met they became friends but Darius was still untrusting. -

Darius Plays Soccer for the First Time in a Long Time
Sohrab had invited Darius to play soccer. Darius was nervous because he hadn't played soccer in years. Sohrab lent Darius a pair of cleats so the he could play. Afterwards they went to shower. The other guys at the shower made fun of Darius because he was uncircumsized.Darius felt betrayed by Sohrab. -

Darius Felt Nervous Around his Family at Nowruz
Nowruz is a family holiday in Iran just like Christmas and Thanksgiving. All of Darius's family that could make it showed up. Darius met two of his uncles, three cousins, and an aunt. Darius started feeling bad about himself again because one of his uncles jokingly picked on him. Darius dad made him feel better which shows that their relationship is improving -

Darius Feels Betrayed by his Father
One night in Iran while Darius was making tea, his father and his sister Laleh started watching Star Trek. Darius began to feel upset because even though they were behind where he and his father were, it was the time he spent with his dad that mattered to Darius. Darius once again felt betrayed. -

Darius Plays Soccer with Sohrab Again
On one of his last days in Iran, Darius plays soccer again with Sohrab. This time when they finished and went to shower no body messed with him because Sohrab was his friend. When Darius went to Sohrab's house to return the cleats Sohrab lost his mind because Darius interuppted him while he was praying for his father. Sohrab kicked Darius out and Darius had lost his only friend. -

Darius Returns Home
After Darius's argument with Sohrab, he went back home to America. Darius went back to school and tried out for the soccer team. Darius made it on the team. He also started to become friends with Chip even though Chip still picked on him
