  • Daniel's behaving

    Daniel's behaving
At this time of the story we can read how Daniel's teacher treat him differently just because he was Jewish and call him with offensive names, this is an example of Acts of Prejudice. This shows that before Nazis the Jews were already prejudiced.
  • Daniel's dad's store is boycotted

    Daniel's dad's store is boycotted
At this time of the story one day Daniel found that there was a storm trooper outside his dad's store that he would not let anyone to enter to his dad's store because it was Jewish store, and that in the window of the store was a the big word Jew. A few days after the Germans will take Daniel's dad's store, basically conficating it. This is and example of discrimination.
  • Daniel was expelled from his school

Daniel was expelled from his school
At this point Daniel's teacher discriminate him, use Epithets (calling him with offensive words) and De-humanize him. Basically he was bullied by his teacher. He got tired and kicked the teacher and then he got expelled from that school.
  • Jews leaving

    Jews leaving
Now from 1935 the Germans began to limitate more and more things to Jews. Every night Daniel's dad would said who of the neighbors or friends they have, had leave Germany. Because of this, they will consider leaving Germany, since Daniel's dad don't want their children to grow in fear.
  • Jew's ID Card

    Jew's ID Card
So here the Germans obligated the Jews to change their name, if you were Jewish male you need to add Israel to your name, and if you were a female you need to add Sara to your name. Also with a big red J for Jew. This is an example of discrimination.
  • Kristallnacht

    Kristallnacht
The Nazis Elite bodyguards were sent to Jewish places to "give them a lesson". Fires blazed over all the Jewish places, glass broke, and screams filled the air. This could be called an act of terrorism or vandalism. Most of the synagogues were burned that night.
  • Daniel's Uncle ashes

    Daniel's Uncle ashes
The Germans have sent a weird box to Daniel's family but when they open it up, they are terrified of what they see. There are Daniel's uncle ashes, so this is a Bias-Motivated Violence event basically a murder.
  • Daniel's family deportation

    Daniel's family deportation
Daniel's family had being forced to go out of their house, go into a train, and go to a Ghetto, in other words to leave Germany. So many just were also sent to a concentration camp when they will be forced to work or just be killed when they arrived. This is and example of discrimination and bias-motivated violence.
  • Georg's Death

    Georg's Death
This is a very important event because of Daniel's uncle didn't pay attention of what Daniel's father has said, so his son Georg got a frostbite and that frostbite got infected and Georg got thinner and thinner to his death. The Germans discriminate them because they just get a little bit of bread just for food for like a week.
  • Terror in the Hospital

    Terror in the Hospital
At this time of the people sick or that were also in the hospital even if it was they last day all of them were deported to another ghetto. The worst happened because germans officers threw newborn babies out of the window of the hospital. Then the germans also so search for weak people to deport them as well, since they couldn't work for germans if they were too weak. also Daniels' Aunt and two cousins were killed, and his grandparents were deported also. This was a Bias-Motivated Violence
  • Library meeting

    Library meeting
Now, Daniel went with his sister to a meeting with tons of book that the Germans banned to Jews he remarked two specific authors Thomas Mann and Bertolt Brecht. Where Daniel would know Rosa, a girl that he will date. They talked about the forced labor, diseases and hope. They are also like a little resistance because they question of what could they do to be free and don't help the Germans in the war. This is a example of how the Germans discriminate the Jews and forced them to work for them.
  • Good decisions

    Good decisions
In the year of 1943 Daniel's mother got very ill, getting a cold , fever or flu, and that winter daniel had to take wood from someone's apartment (terribly that men was frozen to death), the he proceeded to burn all that wood to keep all of his family alive. This show the level of Discrimination and the Individuals Acts of Prejudice that the Germans had against the Jews.
  • Musical instruments

    Musical instruments
At this time the Germans had announced that all the musical instrument are needed to be handed to Germans took take them away. Daniel's dad refuse to let Erika (Daniel's sister) to give away her violin. Again this show discrimination to the Jewish people.
  • Allied invasion

    Allied invasion
France and Russia had now began to invade all the territory of Germans giving hope to the Jewish people that some of then will still alive after the war and all this nightmare for them will end soon. The german will try to reduce more and more the ghetto. so they will decide that Daniel and his cousin Friedrich will hide
  • Auschwitz

    Auschwitz
Daniel was caught in his plan of hiding and he was sent with his family to Auschwitz a death camp, but he doesn't know about Friedrich. He meet again with his father but he and his father are worried about what happened to Daniels' sister and mother. Since for some people the Germans said that they will disinfect them, but instead they will use a deadly gas that will choke them to death and finally burn their bodies. This will be a Genocide since they are killing hundreds and hundreds of people.
  • Birkenau and Monowitz

    Birkenau and Monowitz
Daniel and his father were sent to Birkenau the 2nd camp of Auschwitz to work there and then to Monowitz 3rd camp of Auschwitz were they marched and then to work 12 hours from 6 A.M to 6 P.M, Daniel mentions how they need to share everything since all the supplies were scarce, also that everyday people were killed, if you do something wrong just a little error, you were shot or were sent to the gas room. But luckily they know that Ericka is alive. This is an example of Bias- motivated Violence.
  • Resistance in Auschwitz

    Resistance in Auschwitz
Daniel joined in a resistance group where he will need to take pictures of the crimes of the Nazis, a plan that can risk all of their lives of the member in the resistance. Hoping to send all of the pictures to the allies. Since, the allies were closer, Jewish people were just burned to kill them more faster. This show how they Nazis want to accomplish their goal of a completely genocide of the Jews.
  • Trades to survive

    Trades to survive
Daniel mentions how they just get two ounces of sausage three times a week and two ounces of cheese on Sundays, plus the soup that was basically most water and the pieces of bread and even if you are the healthiest you will last four months in those conditions. So Daniel and his father trade some spoons and knives to get extra food that will keep them alive, This show the bad conditions in which they are living, because if you don't die of disease you do for hunger.
  • Buchenwald

    Buchenwald
Now the allies are very close sothey Jew that are still alive will be sent to buchenwald another camp, where they will do death marches, where you just march but with the hunger and the bad conditions, in those more half of the Jew survivors die, either for hunger, illnesses or exhaustion. This count as murder because the Germans are making they Jew get tired to their deaths, also because of the thinner they are.
  • Better in Buchenwald

     Better in Buchenwald
Daniel tells how they were treated in Buchenwald where it was a little better than Auschwitz because it was camp not for Jews, instead for political prisoners. Where it doesn't exist a crematorium. They would be in quarantine for three week then they will work again were Daniel working like a photographer, to took picture of Germans families. Where he just saw how a SS man was friendly with his family when taking the picture and then killing a kid with no mercy after the pictures. This is murder
  • Sabotage

    Sabotage
Daniel and his father entered in a resistance group where in the night they will proceed to make a plan to do a sabotage of a gas chamber that was in construction, then the workers of the gas chamber will pretend to work hard where they didn't do nothing. This could be Bias-Motivated Violence since the Germans were thinking to continue killing more Jews, by constructing a gas chamber at Buchenwald.
  • Liberation

    Liberation
Now the Allies had come to Buchenwald, where the Germans will be so distracted with the Allies that the prisoners will take control of the whole camp. Daniel had shot a couple guards where he will find the SS man that killed the boy with no mercy, and he just scared him because he isn't on their level to just kill someone without a reason. Then Daniel's father will give a hug to Daniel saying at the same time "It's over".
  • Free!

    Free!
Daniels tells all the satisfaction that he feels now that they survived and they are free, and how they stay a few weeks in the camp to get a least more healthier. Sadly, there were already people too sick to survive, by the time some people were dying because of that. Also, he tells that the allies show the Germans what was happening in the camp and order them to help.
  • Still Hate?

    Still Hate?
After they got more healthier Daniel, his father and his friend Peter decided to go to Lodz to see if they have family members alive there. Meanwhile when they got to the station they got assaulted, where Peter got very injured, a doctor there told to Daniel that Peter needs an operation since the injuries are really bad. Then they got to Lodz were peter was sent directly to a room. This show after they liberation and how the people saw the atrocities, Germans still hated the Jews.
  • A good end

    A good end
When daniel got to Lodz, he will notice a girl which will be Rosa, sadly Peter and Erika died, Erika died because she was very ill. Both Daniel, a Rosa tell to each who survived that they know, making us know that Friedrich have survived.
