In 1926 he was expelled from the Academy just before final exams because he believed none of his teachers was competent enough to examine him.That year he visited Paris where he met Pablo Picasso and Miro who introduced him to Surrealism.Dali's paintings show the influence of cubism and impressionism and are about man's universe, sexual symbolism, ideographic images. His exhibitions in Barcelona caused a lot of debates and controversial reactions. -

He created with Luis Bunuel two films, The Andalusian Dog andthe Golden Age.The films were samples of surrealism.He developed the paranoiac - critical method through which man can create a reality from his dreams and subconscious thoughts. At that time he met his future wife and muse,Gala Diakonova. They got married in 1934. Gala was responsible for the financial issues and management of his artistic career.In 1934 he was expelled from the Surrealism movement as he seemd to favour Fascism. -

The Dali Theatre-Museum
After the war his paintings have scientific, historica and religious themes.His artwork shows excellence. Back in Spain he spent 15 years creating his Theatre-Museum in his hometown.The building of the museum was the municipal theatre where he had his first exhibition.It opened in 1974. -

Final Years
In 1980 hand weakness and trembling forced him to stop painting. In 1982 the King of Spain honoured him but that year his wife died which caused his depression. On January 23, 1989 he died of heart problems. He was buried in a crypt which is found the Dali Museum.
