    The Magna Carta is a document that King John was forced into signing. It greatly reduced the kings power in England and allowed the formation of a powerful parliament.
  • May 29, 1453

    Mehemd takes Constaninople

    The city was captured by the Ottomans and its capture marked the end of the Roman Empire.
  • Jan 1, 1492

    Columbus sailed across the Atlantic

    Columbus sailed the ocean to find a route to India but landed in North America instead.
  • Landing of the Mayflower

    The Mayflower was carrying pilgrims from England and landed on Plymyth Rock in the United States to start a new settlement.
  • When the car was invented

    It was built by Ferdinand Verbiest. He built the car in China and was powered by steam.
  • English Bill of Rights

    This limits the power of the king and states the freedom of speech of the parliament and the regular elections into parliament. The Bill of RIghts also gives anyone the right to petition the monarch without fear.
  • United States Declaration of Independence

    This is the declaration of indepedence from England. Although we still fought the Revolutionary War after this, this was the date that we stated our independence from them.
  • Ratification of US Constitution

    This is when the US revised its constitution and made a better government for the more modern times. It was finished on this date.
  • Start of the Frnech Revolution

    It happened because the peasants were upset with how they were being treated. They didnt thing that Louis XIV was a good ruler and theyre was also a huge national dept. The storing of the bastille marked the beginning of the revolution.
  • Napoleon Declared Emperor

    After executing high officials and overthrowing the government, Napoleon officially crowned himself emperor
  • Napoleon Defeated at The Battle of Waterloo

    The French think that Napoleon was defeated because the other side was very skillful and arrived and fought at the exact right time. Also because the British had a very good army and the weather was bad.
  • US Civil War

    4-12-1861 - 4-9-1865
    It happened because the south favored slavery while the north did not. Also because the south didnt like the president and almost started its own country called the Confederate States of America.
  • Start of Mexican Revolution

    The main idea of the mexican Revolution was to overthrow the Diez Regime but after the leader was overthrown, people did not like the knew leader and threw him out. They did that with the next three leaders after him too. More than one million people died in it and 300,000 more people died in the flu epidemic during it.
  • Republican Revolution, end of emperors

    The last emperor of China was Puyi. That ended about 2000 years of imperial rule and the beginning fo Chinas Republican Era.
  • Assassinatioin of archduke Franz Ferdinand

    He was visiting Sarajevo and people werealready there to assassinate him. There first attempt failed and one of the assassinaters became really upset with that and went to lunch where he saw Franz Ferdinand and murdered him.
  • World War I

    7-28-1914 - 11-11-1918
    World War I was caused because France and Germany had a lot of problems, Russia was defending people of Serbia who were being protected by Germany and everyone was just really upset with each other.
  • US Enters World War I

    Up to that day, America remained nutrual on the War but then Germany blew up a ship killing a lot of Americans which made us declare wasr on them.
  • Bolshevik Revolution

    When Nicholas II dragged a ton of peasants into the war, they became mad and discouraged over his bad leadership and wanted to revolt which ended with the Bolshevik Revolution.
  • Armistice

    This was the day of the end to World War I.
  • World War II starting date

    This war involved all of the great powers and started because Germany had set out to expand its territory with the Nazis. Theyre were two sides. The Allies and the Axies.
  • Germany Invades Poland

    Germany Invaded Poland to expand its Empire and that was the official start of World War II
  • Pearl Harbor Attack

    On this date, the japanese invaded Pearl Harbor, Hawaii which is a military base. This is what really brought us into World War II. It was one of the few times that America has been attacked on its soil.
  • Germany Surrenders

    On this day, Germany and the Nazis and Hitler surrendered to the Allies.
  • First Atomic Bomb was Dropped

    It was dropped on Hiroshima and caused lsot of eyesight and cancer for a lot of people. 140,000 people died.
  • Second Atomic Bomb was dropped

    70,000 people died and had an explosive power of 20 kilotons of TNT
  • Japan Surrenders

    At this date, Japan formally surrendered on the USS Missouri in the Tokyo Bay.
  • Churchill delivers "Iron Curtain" speech in Fulton, MO at Westminster College

    The speech warned Americans about the dangers of Josef Stalin and the Soviet Union. He urged the nation against isolationism and he urged the west to unite against communism.
  • Berlin Airlift

    6-24-1948 - 5-12-1949
    The soviets didnt want the French, English and Americans to establish there own currency is west berlin but they did anyways so in response he stopped all cargo and supplies to be shipped there. So they ended up sending it planes with all of the supplies and food until it ended.
  • Communist's takeover China

    Mao delievered a speech at the Gate of Eternal Peace, which is the enterence to the Forbidden City. He said that the central government of the peoples republic of china has been made.
  • Korean War

    6-25-1950 - 7-27-1953
    It was a part of the cold war and started when North Korea invaded South Korea. America got involved to defend South Korea. In the end, the lines dividing North and South Korea were where the war had started.
  • Vietman War

    11-1-1955 - 4-30-1975
    The Vietnam war happened because the Americans did not want communism to spread all over, so we wanted to prevent it from spreading to Vietnam. We went against Ho-Chi-Mihn, who wanted it to become communist.

    The Vietman War started because communism was threatening to take over Vietman and the US was trying to prevent it.
  • Berlin Wall Built

    It was a wall between east and west Germany. Life was a lot better in the west so the Germans built the wall to keep people in east germany.

    It was amde by Derek Piggot at SUMPAC at Lusham Airport. The best flight made out of it was 650 meters.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    This is when the US had missils pointed at the USSR in Turkey and they had missiles pointed at us in Cuba. It was a very scary and stressful time when the war between the USSR and the US was most likely.

  • Kennedy Assassinated

    On that day, President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, TX by Lee Harvey Oswald. He was riding through the city in a convertible and fell into his wife.
  • Tet Offensive

    The Tet Offensive was a surprise attack on South Vietnam by the Vietcong. This was said to be the turning point in the war. Although the Vietcong lost, in their mind they won.
  • First Man Walks on the Moon

    Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. He was on the Second Apollo Mission. They put the American Flag on the moon while they were there.
  • Woodstock

    Woodstock was a music festival of rock and roll. An estimated 400,000 people showed up near Bethal, NY.
  • Watergate Scandal

    This happened when a group of people who were for the election of Richard Nixon broke into the Watergate Hotel and bugged and phone and burglarized. The people who ended up being involved in it were very high in the government. It was a huge scandal.
  • When Last Americans Leave Vietman

    After the Fall of Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam, the Americans started to leave Vietman because they were defeated.
  • Tiananmen Square Protest

    Some Chinese were having a protest in the square when the army shot hundreds of them dead to stop the protest. Tanks randomly fired at unarmed protesters. The protests were because the chinese were calling for democracy.
  • End of Apartheid and Nelson Mandela's Release

    This was to allow democracy and the first democratic elections in South Africa were held later that year and people of all races were allowed to vote.
  • Re-Unification of Germany

    During this, the two economies came together and although theyre were a lot of problems, and it went really slow, Germany eventually came back together.
  • USSR Ends

    It ended because they economy was really bad and the government didnt really do a lot of things efficiently. Theyre were also a lot of shortages. Mikhail Gorbachev then in the end had to step down.
