After Francis became a priest at 26 and later became a bishop and spiritual director. As a spiritual director he had to help people and one of those people were Jane de Chantal because of the death of her husband.

Jane and Francis founded this Visitation after the Papal closure.

Francis’ died of a stroke on December 28, 1622. He was canonized by Pope Alexander VII and later became a Patron Saint in 1854

In her time, Saint Jane founded 82 Visitation Monasteries. While establishing the Visitation Monastery in Paris, she met Saint Vincent de Paul, who became her spiritual director after the death of Saint Francis de Sales. On December 13, 1641, Saint Jane died and was buried near her friend and co-founder Saint Francis de Sales in Annecy, France. She was canonized in 1767. The feast of Saint Jane de Chantal is August 18th.
