Crabbe's Thoughts On Life
Crabbe was very sick of his life and the future everyone planned for him, so he decided to do something about it. No one even consulted him on what he wanted, He was also tired that other people planned everything for him and that he never had the chance to decid for himself. Also that when he would say something no one wanted to hear what he had to say, this is because they felt the need to take over his life for themselves, and basically ignoring what he want. -
Getting Ready
Crabbe has spent the last few weeks gathering the esentual things he needs to survive in the wilderness for the summer and a bit. The esentual things he's packed are none parashuable foods, camping gear, clothes, and a little more. -
Planning The Journey
Crabbe planned to go to Ithaca camp where him and his father went fishing a long ago summer. Also he planned to take the Station Wagon and ditch it when he got to the camp, then planned to go down the river at Ithaca Camp in the families forgotten canoe. -

The Impacting Events

The Three Omens
Crabbe had three conversations that day and they were with Grant, Frazer, and his parents, after these conversations he made the decision that that night would be the night to go. So he packed up and got ready, a little sad that he was actually going through with it but comforted by Silent Sam. -
Shock Of His Life
Crabbe finally got everything he had to take ready and on the car after struggling to get the heavy canoe onto the station wagon's roof, the sound of a car scares Crabbe into action he had to hide behind the car and hope that his parents wouldn't see the canoe on the roof of the car. -
Tired Out Of Their Minds
Lucky for Crabbe his dad told his mom not to turn on the lights when she asked. So his dad just stumpled around in the garage till he found the door to the house. Lucky for him because if his mom would have turned on the lights the canoe and wagon would have been in full view. -
Pushing Events
Grant Crabbe's Gym teacher found that Crabbe seemed drunk and demanded to see in Crabbe's locker, as he searched Crabbe's locker he found Crabbe's supply of Silent Sam. He took Crabbe to the pricipal and the principal let him off with a warning, this is because he's one of those kids who have high and powerful parents. -
On The Way
Crabbe waited a couple hours after his parents went into the house so they would be asleep before he left. Once on the road he didn't stop unless he needed to refeul or to releave himself. He got to the camp just before dawn but was too late to set out on the water because the sky was already turning grey with early morning sunlight. -
Finally Free
After dark Crabbe loaded the canoe and tried to get in but soon realised that the canoe was imbalenced and that he had to tie it up while he loaded so that the canoe wouldn't float away. Once everything was loaded in and the car was hiden between two big tree's he started down stream and across the lake. -
Life Of A Teacher
At Crabbe's school all the teachers expect you to go alone with their plans and they definatly don't want you to think in depth or think at all. But a new teacher changes their plans he actually wanted to have his students think in depth. He was different compared to the other teachers at the school and was probably hated because he was different. -
Struggle On Land
After a few hours of canoeing he had to get out and struggle with the canoe to get his supplies down river he even states that the packs were harder to move than the heavy canoe, this is because when he packed them he just threw stuff into the bags. By doing this they were all heavy and have sharp parts sticking out all over. -
Rained Out
After sleeping the night in his tent Crabbe awoke and found that he left his pack open and one a little open, and the rain soaked his gear inside and out and his food and books were soaked. so he scattered the wet food around for the birds and went back into the tent to sleep and eat. -
Scared To Death
Crabbe awoke that night to a loud rustling near his tent, scared out of his mind he kept quiet and moved on to his elbows inside his tent. The animal moved around and he heard a ripping sound which slowly approached,the animal was coming inside his tent. He moved quickly to the back of his tent fearing for his life,the animal snarled and lunged a sharp paw at him, he ducked into a ball and passed out. -
Water Beauty
Kind of awake Crabbe saw his rescuer for a quick moment, she was tall and slender woman dressed in red, with gray eyes and full cracked and dry lips, with sandy coloured hair. She dragged Crabbe out of the water, fixed him up, and let him rest in her tent at her camp. -
Finding The Way
After going down stream for a couple of days, Crabbe got thinking. He thought it was essentual to have a compass when traveling through the bush, sadly though he didn't have one, but on the other hand when you don't care where your going what does it matter? As long as your getting away from the life you ran away from. -
Free Falling
After a few more portages Crabbe got back in the canoe and started down stream the noise from the last rapid he had to luge all his gear past was still pretty loud. Crabbe didn't think anything of it and kept going, he didn't realise that the water was speeding up and the stream was narrowing rapidly, until it was too late. He was stuck in a water canyon going towards a water fall, Crabbe couldn't stop and was soon in the water and even sooner knocked unconsious. -
So Much Pain
After a few days of rest Crabbe found out that after falling over the falls, the blonde woman also known as Mary fished him out. He nearly had hypothermia from being in the cold water. He had a few ingury's a badly cut arm and a few broken ribs, luck for him Mary knew first aid so she bound his chest, splinted and bandaged his arm just incase it was broken, and kept him warm so he wouldn't get even worse hypothermia symptoms. -
Learning To Survive
After spending a few weeks on getting a full recovery Mary (the stranger) has started teaching Crabbe the basic knowledge to survive like how to light a fire and what food you should eat and gather and how to get fresh water. He is now able to survive in one spot for a few days with a little help of another person with more knowledge. -
Opening Up
Crabbe has never told anyone about his problems especially not to a complete stranger. But after a few weeks with Mary as his only company he realises that she doesn't treat him like other people do, so he opens up to her. Crabbe tells her why he's in the bush and how he got there and what his plan was. -
The Blame Game
Crabbe had blamed other people so long that when he finally realised it was his fault he couldn't help but tell someone. Crabbe had a talk with Mary one day and realised all he did was blame others when in reality it was himself he should be blameing. He realised that he was the reason his life sucked and it was all because he just stood by while his life was set out for him. -
Taking Things Forgrantite
Crabbe figures out pretty quickly not to take things forgrantite when in the bush. For all his life he has had someone to fallow around behind him and pick up anything he drops or leaves and puts it away for him he's also had all his food made and brought to him. Where as in the bush if you drop something or leave it then it either gets left there or it dissapears, and if you want food you have to find it and cook it your self theirs no one to do it for you when you run off into the bush. -
Presents
After haveing another fight with his enotions Crabbe noticed Mary sitting with a puzzeled look on her face, he asked her why and she disappeared into the bush to retreave the hidden pack. She canme back with a pipe and gave it to Crabbe saying when he gets the need for Silent Sam he could take a few puffs from the pipe and keep going on his merry way. -
The Important Tale
After Crabbe was given the pipe marie told him how it was made and where, and also why it was so significant. Crabbe after hearing her explaination didn't see how the pipe would work to help kick him drinking problem, but knew that it was specail to her because it came from her hiden pack and knew that it had to be from someone important to her that she even bothered to hide it in the first place. -
Strength
After spending a few months in the woods Crabbe has gotten stronger and healthier with each passing day. This is because while he's in the woods he has to hunt and gather and move a heavy canoe into the water so Mary and him can go across the lake and get other reasourses. Also Crabbe is healthier because he used to just be couped up inside all day where as in the woods he has to keep moving. -
Wondering
Everyday after Mary had hide pack Crabbe has wondered about whats inside the pack and why its so important to her. Crabbe figured out pretty quick that obiously the pack has some important value to Mary, and is probable important because it has to do with her past and why she came out into the woods in the first place. But what could it be that she didn't want Crabbe to see? -
The Plan
The weather was turning to the colder side and Mary knew that it was probably best for Crabbe to start planning his route back to civilization. The two spent the rest of the afternoon planning on what to do and how to do it that way the journy would be as easy and simple as possible, on both of them. Crabbe and Mary also planned on having one more adventure together by going down river to a hunting camp and gather food for Mary so she could stay in the woods for the winter. -
Confession Of Love
After being told by Mary that they should start planning his re-entery into civilization, Crabbe proclaimed his love for her. Mary saw this coming though and regreted letting him stay with her, but at the same time didn't regret letting him stay with her because she was so lonely staying in the woods alone. Mary also doesn't think its real love though and feals sorry for him. -
Caught
Gathering food in the hunting camp wasn't as easy as Crabbe and Mary thought is was going to be, nope when four drunk men were pissing of the dock and Crabbe was hidding in the bush to keep look out for Mary, Mary must have dropped something because a German Shepard and one man went and found her stealing food they tide her hands back and led her into a cabin, Crabbe tried to save her but he was too late she had already been raped. He untied her and took off with her in tow into the bush. -
Lead Us Home
Mary wasn't really herself after being raped back at the hunting camp so Crabbe had to figure out which direction to go in and when and where they should stop and rest. Once they got going Crabbe turned and asked Mary if they were going in the right direction and Mary said yes they were, the sad part was that she wasn't even looking up. Another time Crabbe stopped and said they should set up camp and take shelter for the night but Mary insistead that they should keep going -
Falling
Crabbe searched all night for Mary, constantly calling for her looking everywhere on the ridge. The fire that both set out to get wood so it could be started for warmth was quickly forgotten when Mary didn't return from her search. When light peaked over a ridge Crabbe spotted Mary's body twisted and mangled at the bottom of the ridge. -
A Barrial For A God
After hauling Mary's dead body up the ridge Crabbe went and gathered more wood, to cremate her body. Crabbe couldn't burry her and have the animals getting at her, and he sure as anything couldn't lug her body back to camp, so the only option was to cremate her body. He spent the day gathering and lite the wood just after nightfall. The flames seemed to guide him home. -
A Long Search
After months of wondering what was in Mary's Pack and what she was like before he met her, he went and found the pack in the woods. It didn't really hit him how much he missed her until he looked through the pack. He spent the last few days sleeping so that could also be a reason why it hadn't hit him as well. -
The Truth Comes Out
After Crabbe looked through Mary's pack he decided to burn everything he found that was in it, he didn't really understand what Mary's story was after looking at her things the first time but on the second time around he got it. Mary's husband was a professor as was she and was at a protest when he was pushed out onto the street and hit by a taxi. Mary realised he had spinal and brain damage and was going to be paralised, brain dead, and on life support for the rest of his life. -
On The Path
After looking over Mary's stuff and seeing the snow fall it was clear to Crabbe that he needed to leave this spot forever. He also knew going back to Ithaca Camp the way he came would take really long and he wanted a short, fast, and easier route back to the camp. He planned to go a new way and be at the camp with in four days, even with the snow. -
Thinking In Depth
Crabbe spent sometime thinking while he planned his route back to Ithaca Camp, about what life would be like when he got back home. Would people treat him differently? Would he let people plan his life for him? Many of these kind of thoughts passed through his head and he thought about how he had changed as a person. -
Stranded In The Snow
Crabbe didn't watch the signs when he began his days trip treaking to Ithaca Camp. He didn't have as much luck as he did a few days before when a storm hit and he found shealter in a cave built of his Canoe, nylon, and a fallen tree, nope he was stuck out in the middle of no where a few miles away from the camp. the sun set and he was still walking he fell a couple times and lost his mitts and couldn't find them so he kept going, sadly he lost all feeling in his hands and feet he had frostbite. -
A Savior
After getting to a cabin he spent a day drying himself and his cloths and then set out to go into civilization, a man in a clean pick-up truck picked him up and saw his frostbitten hands he took him to see a doctor. The doctor in the closest town was one hundred miles away. The stranger didn't hesitate he took Crabbe right into the hospital and made sure he was looked after. -
Something New, Something Gone
After coming to the second time a lady in white pants and a white coat came in and told Crabbe that his head hurt because of the anesthetic, his lungs hurt because he has a double case of pneumonia and they amputated two fingers on his left hand. After Crabbe found out that he had to fingers taken off he was in deep shock but at the same time he didn't feel any different. -
Sleep Moving
After learning about Crabbe's inguries he was moved to a different hospital in the city. He was moved because they didn't have enough room to keep him at the hospital. Once he got into the city hospital he met three piece and a big cop. Crabbe got talking to the two men and he opened up and told them his name and where his parents live. -
An Adventure Worth Shareing
After a few sessions Dr.Browne has gotten more and more upset the fact that Crabbe won't share about what happen when he disapeared in June. Dr. Browne is also mad because he can't figure out why Crabbe did what he did and why he wanted to kill himself. But really Crabbe never wanted to kill himself he just wanted to get away from the life his parents made for him. -
Free Thinkers
Crabbe used to envy the kids who were free in school they didn't follow the system so they were marked that they had behavioural problems, when really its cover for their lack of imagination. -
Playing
Crabbe's first theripist gave up on him within the third day and a new theripist named Dr. Browne, he is the one that Crabbe looks foreward to each week, every session Dr.Browne acts like a different person sometimes he's the friend, the father, or firm. Crabbe just has to figure out who he's going to play that day and then Crabbe just plays right on back. -
Strange Faces
After months of not seeing his parents Crabbe can't bring himself to go in and talk to them about what he did and why he actually went through with it. After talking with a nurse though he knew he needed to talk to his parents. It was strange for him to see them his mom had on he mink but also had her penny loafers on that she only used to wear on her off days when she was at home, and his dad wore one of his suits only it was wrinkled and he had put on weight. -
Talking To Family
Talking to Crabbe's parents was hard for him and his parents both sides were very confused about what to say and what had happend in their absence from their lives, when either side wasn't there. His parents didn't seem to understand that Crabbe wanted to plan and make his own life the way he wanted they seemed to still want Crabbe to follow thier rules, but quickly realised that that wasn't going to happen when he said no. -
Apoligizing
Talking to Crabbe's parents about what he did and why wasn't enough for him. He knew he needed to apoligize for running away and putting his parents through that but at the same time he knew that running away without a trace was the only way he could get his point across to everyone and anyone who knew him, other wise he would have been found and he would have still been living the life everyone else wanted him to live. -
Health
After getting out of the hospital Crabbe went back home and decided that he was going to live his own life from the time he ran away on. He took up jogging for his own benifit, he liked being in shape it gave him a sense of accomplishment and dignatey that his old life didn't. He is also was constantly thinking about Mary and how she helped him. -
Light At The End Of The Tunnel
After a couple days of doing pretty much nothing Crabbe decided to get a Job of his choice. He ended up getting a job at a Sheet Metal Plant and a friend in his new boss; Mr. Brighton. Mr. Brighton was part of a outfit called Project Adventure where a group of adults and troubled kids go out into the woulds and learn important skills. Brighton told Crabbe this and invited him on the next trip to test him out, Crabbe hopes he can do what Mary did for him for someone else on a smaller scale.
