  • Declaration of Rights and grievances is passed

    Declaration of Rights and grievances is passed
    This was a document that was created for the British colonist, which said that they couldn't be taxed without their consent. It was passed on October 19, 1765 by the Stamp Act Congress, which declare it unconstitutional.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was an event that occured because people were tired of paying high taxes on goods and such. This was led by a group called the Sons of Liberty that dressed up as native americans.
  • Revolutionary War Begins

    Revolutionary War Begins
    The Revolutionary War started because the colonists declared that they weren't being taxed fairly. They wanted to recieve representation for the taxes and wanted to choose the people that would represented them. They would also annouce to England that they would form their own government.
  • 2nd Continental Congress Meets

    2nd Continental Congress Meets
    2nd Continental Congress met because of the first time when the British didn't go.At this meeting they also discussed the governmental duties and how to unite the colonies. Especially in order to prepare for the war.
  • Declaration of Independence is signed

    The Declaration of Independence was signed in order to show that we would now have freedom and liberty that the people desired. We were finally going to be considered an independent nation and no longer under the control of England.
  • Articles of Confederation is signed

    Articles of Confederation is signed
    The Articles of Confederation were written in order to provide a form of government for the new 13 colonies which united. In the end it didn't work as they didn't work together to support the government.
  • Revolutionary War Ends

    The Revoltuionary War ends as Cornwallis, the British general surrenders to the patriots. The French navy that had surrounded him at Yorktown. In order to prove that he had surrender he had to sign the declaration that gave independence.
  • Final draft of the Constitution is signed

    Final draft of the Constitution is signed
    The Constitution was signed in order for the issue that were already declared to be signed. The had to do it many time as the states couldn't agree on many things. Like many of states had different votes then others.
