    Magna Carta

    Magna Carta
    Magna Carta was a document that was signed by King James by forced by nobles. The agreement said that the nobles had rights, rights included equal treatment under the law and trial by one's peers. Also the power of the monarch was limited. No one would be above the law which influence our goverment.
  • Mayflower Compact

    Mayflower Compact
    As the pilgrims rode the mayflower over to the Americas on their way here they relized that they were coming to no goverment. So they deciced to write there own set of rules name the Mayflower Compact. Which stated that citzens held meeting to tell the town's problems and issues later signed by 41 men.

    Fudamental Orders of Connecticut
    Once the pilgrims were living their lifes some wanted to moved due to religious issues. So these group of people made up the Fudamental Orders of Connecticut. In it stated the each colony must elected a representivies to make laws. Which were governers and judges. This was America's frist written constitution.

    Parliament removed King James III, he was replaced by his dauther. This event show that the Parliament is stronger then the king. Also no need to shot the king to replace him, this showed then the king can be removed in a peaceful way. No ruler has more power than the Parliament.

    the English Bill of Rights were right writeren by the Parliament. These rights are guarenteed free elections, a free trial, and no cruel of unusual punishments. It also limited even more the power of the monarch.
  • John Locke

    John Locke
    John Locke was an English philosopher, leader of the Enlightenment, and suportted the Glorious Revolution. He had wrote a statement sayin that people were born free, equal, and independent. Also called natural rights, these rights are life, liberty, and property. You were cerifed these rights when born.

    Baron de Montesquieu
    A french writer named Baron de Montesquieu influenced by John Locke's theroy. He got the idea of dividing the branches of government so that each branch will not have more power then another one. This idea was called separationof powers. It influenced our fathers and the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution.

    Jean-Jacques Rousseau
    Jean-Jacques Rousseau a french philosopher had writen in the "Social Contract" that "man is born free, yet eveywhere he is found in chains." Since he lived in country which the goverment had all the power. He said the people had the right to determine how they should be governed. If we give up some of our rights to the goverment for protection.
