Computer History 1974 - 1984

  • Motorola Microprocessor

    In 1974, this microprocessor was designed and first manufactured by Motorola. It enhanced the performance speed and memory.
    It led to the manufacturing of Motorola 68000 in 1979, which had a processing speed far greater than other microprocessors.
  • Microsoft

    In 1975, Microsoft was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in Albuquerque, NM. This led to a wide range of software products for computing devices and the best-selling Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Office.
  • Apple 1

    In 1976, Apple 1 was created by Steve Jobs and founder Steve Wozniak. The computer made it possible to do so many things that were thought to be impossible. It made communication faster.
  • Apple II

    In 1977, lead designer Steve Wozniak and manufacturer Apple Computer, Inc., released this computer. It enhanced the color graphics and introduction of game paddles and other components.
  • Macintosh

    In 1984, Apple introduced Macintosh which became the first mouse-driven computer with a graphic user interface. This led to the Macintosh 128k.
