Purdue was founded in May 6, 1869

After the community’s efforts to sustain the college failed, the Ball brothers purchased the land and buildings of the defunct institution and donated them to the State of Indiana. This gift became the Indiana State Normal School Eastern Division, which opened in 1918 to meet Indiana’s need for more and better teachers.

Students and employees have written critically about the school's high tuition and low academic standards.[6] ITT Technical Institute charges among the highest tuition in the industry. It also has the industry's highest rate of loans that go into default within two years of attendance.[7] In 2014, the tuition for attending an ITT Tech campus ranged from $45,000 to $85,000.[8] According to ITT Tech literature, credits earned at ITT Tech are unlikely to transfer to other colleges.

ISU had a footbaall team. The team last played in the NCAA Playoffs in the 2014 NCAA Division I Football Championship. Their first season was 1896.
