    A baby boomer is anyone born between 1945 and 1954. During this time the population of the U.S increased tremendously from 9 million to 20 million. This took place in the United States from 1945-1954. This was important because it raised the U.S population by 11 million people. Also it was to make up for loss during the great depression and WW2. Baby Boomers impacted society because it increased the population by 11 million and there was better health care for women and children during 1945-50s.
  • Jackie Robinson

    Jackie Robinson
    Jackie Robinson was the first African American in the MLB. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He and his family received several hate mail saying they would kill him and his family. This took place all over the United States in 1947. This was important to U.S history because he was the first African American in the MLB. Jackie impacted the U.S society because on April 15th, all around the MLB, everyone wears the number 42. Also his number is retired in every single stadium.

    Joe McCarthy was a senator for Wisconsin.He claimed the there was 57 State Department employees who were communist. This took place in 1953 in the U.S. This was important because he was never able to prove his claim and caused many people to be fired. Joe McCarthy impacted society because he spread fear and suspicion of communism in the United States.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis was between JFK and Nikita Khrushchev. The Cuban Missile Crisis was when the Soviet Union sent missiles to Cuba and the U.S sent missiles to Turkey. This event took place in October in 1962 in the U.S, Cuba, and Russia. The Cuban Missile Crisis impacted politics because it was the closest the world has been to a full-scale nuclear war and it was a 13 day stand-off.

    5 men robbed the Watergate Hotel and were linked to President Nixon. During this event 5 men robbed the Democratic Party HQ. This event took place on July 17 1972 in Washington D.C at the Watergate Hotel in the Democratic Party HQ. This was important because in July 1974 Nixon resigned from office. The Watergate Scandal impacted politics because 2 years after the event President Nixon resigned from office and a new president had to step in.

    Jimmy Carter was the President of the United States from 1976-1980. He was a former governor of Georgia and served a President from 1976-1980. This event took place in the United States from 1976-1980. This was important because he was part of the Helsinki Agreement and he boycotted the 1980 Olympics. Jimmy Carter impacted politics because he was part of SALT 2 and passed the Social security act.

    There were 7 astronauts including a teacher from Massachusetts, Christa McAuliffe. 59 seconds after its liftoff challenger caught on fire and later exploded. This took place on January 28, 1986 in Cape Canaveral, Florida.This was important NASA's director was fired and the shuttle program was put on hold for almost 3 years. Challenger impacted economy because the shuttle program was put on hold for 3 years so the people that worked there didn't have a job.

    George W. Bush is the son of George H.W. Bush and former President of the United States. He was President of the United States from 2000-2008. This was important to history because he was president during 9/11. He also was president when Saddam Hussein was executed. George W. Bush impacted society because he passed the "No Child Left Behind" which made sure all children had some sort of education.

    Thousands of Americans were impacted during these 2 hurricanes. Hurricane Katrina was 400 miles wide and Harvey was 280 miles wide. Hurricane Katrina took place in New Orleans on August 29, 2005 and Harvey took place in Houston on August 25, 2017. This event was important because Katrina cost 81 billion to repair and Harvey took 75 billion to repair. Hurricane Katrina and Harvey impacted society because Katrina destroyed 150,000 plus homes and Harvey destroyed 12,700 homes.
