    United Nations
    The United Nations was a peace keeping organization. It was located in New York City at the Yalta Conference. The countries involved are the U.S., England, France, Russia, and China.
  • Joseph McCarthy

    Joseph McCarthy
    McCarthy was the senator from Wisconsin. In 1953, a Department of employees who were communism. Joe could never really prove his point on why these employees were communism. He then got fired and then others were afraid. The U.S. started to get communist in the army more and more. From this happening it got censured and lost its power. All this did was spread fear and suspicion of communism.

    Rosa Parks
    Rosa refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on a bus. She did this to try and end segregation and Jim Crow Laws. The government integrated buses after a year of the boycotting. After all this happened Rosa joined the NAACP. Then, She published her first book called,"Rosa Parks: My Story," to share what had happened. She has won many awards and some are Spingam Medal and MLK Jr. Award. Rosa Parks died in October of 2005. There were no more violent protest. What she did helped everyone.

    Friday November 22, 1963 Dallas Texas, Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. It was a parade and they had an open car and since there was cheering crowds it was hard to hear things. When JFK got shot, he was slumped back in his seat from a gunshot wound to the head. He passed at 2:00 p.m. at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. 3 television stations broadcasted this event without interruption for more than 70 hours. After, Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby while getting escorted to a secure jail.

    Gerald Ford
    He was the 38th president and served from 1974-1976. He was in the republican party. In politics he was from Michigan and was in congress for 25 years. Fords biggest event was pardoning Richard Nixon which means to forgive. Other important events were he started trade with the Soviet Union and he was also apart of JFK's death. Ford was an investigator in the situation. One last thing was he had two assassination attempts on him.

    Elvis started to get popular because of T.V. and the show was the Ed Sullivan Show. He lived in Graceland at Memphis, TN. Soon after he was drafted into the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1960. Once he got really big with his music his nickname was,"King of Rock n Roll." Elvis was one of the biggest influences on pop culture for Rock n Roll. He was very helpful because he donated 1,000 dollars to charities, supported family, bought homes for strangers, and paid hospital bills. He died on August 16, 1977

    Ronald Reagan was president for 2 terms from 1980- 1988. Reagan was a Republican when running for president. In politics he was the governor of California and was also a movie star when he was governor. His biggest event was that he spent $100 billion on defense and cut taxes also.
  • Challenger Explosion

    In this event there was 7 astronauts that took off in this space ship for NASA. Christa McAuliffe was the first civilian passenger and she was a teacher. NASA wanted to revive the public interest of watching these space ships launching. So when they said this launch is going to happen millions of people tuned to watch the Challenge. At 11:39 a.m. the Challenger took off and at 59 seconds after liftoff people saw black smoke from the ship. Then, the Challenger burst into flames. No one survived.

    3 million people of East Berlin decided to move to West Berlin. In, August, 1961, East German soldiers began building a wall that was made out of concrete and barbed wire was all across the Berlin Wall which was 69 and a half miles long. East Berliners who tried to escape to the west were shot by one of the border guards. It was representing a symbol of the Cold War. The wall finally fell inn 1989.

    Saddam Hussein sent 100,000 troops into Kuwait and the reason why is because Kuwait is a rich oil producer. So the U.S. wanted to prevent Iraq from spreading its influence in the Middle East. The U.S. then sent forces into Saudi Arabia. 1/16/1991 the United Nations launched an air attack calling it the "Desert Storm." 28 countries joined the Unites States to give a helping hand an within 24 hours the U.S. destroyed there defense missiles. The U.S. then won. Cost billions of dollars to rebuild.

    Terrorist attack rook place on Tuesday morning at 7:46 a.m. in NYC 9/11/2001. The Today Show was the first to have broadcasted this event live. American Airline Flight 11 crashed into the North tower of the World Trade Center. Then, Flight 175 hit the South Tower. Everyone that was above the strikes were trapped. America was under attack for the first time since Pearl Harbor. 8:40 a.m., a plane crashed into the Pentagon. This was planned by Osama Bin Laden who was killed on May 1, 2011 by Navy.

    In 2008 the world economy faced its most dangerous crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930. Companies that normally rely on credit suffered heavily, including the American auto industry. Banks were trusting no one to pay them back so they stopped making the loans. Began with mortgage dealers who issued mortgages with borrowers couldn't pay, so they went into foreclosure. Insurance companies traded for credit swaps making trillions. Deep recession had taken over most of the world.
