  • Berlin Blockade

    Berlin Blockade
    One of the first major international crises of the Cold War. Soviet Union blocked the Western Allies' railway road and canal access to parts of Berlin.
  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift
    The Western Allies organized the Berlin Airlift to carry supplies to people in West Berlin. 8,893 tons of supplies were carried daily (ex: fuel & food).
  • NATO

    NATO is a military alliance based on the North Atlantic Treaty. Members of NATO agree to mutual defense to an attack by any other country.
  • NCS - 68

    NCS - 68
    National Security Council Report 68 (NSC-68) was a 58 page long policy issued by U.S. National Security, issued to President Truman. This policy increased containment against the communists.
  • Chinese Civil War

    Civil War fought between Jiang Jieshi and Mao Zedong. This war began in 1927, and ended in 1950 with a communist victory.

    Truman fires MacArthur
    President Truman fired MacArthur, and soon later replaced him with general Matthew Ridgeway. Truman fired him, because MacArthur made public announcements that contradicted administration policies.
