    Franz Joseph Haydn

    Started in Vienna, was a homeless musician for a while. Hired by Hungarian royalty, and a member of the family took a liking to Haydn's music quickly. It was Haydn's responsibility to handle the music for most of the family. His work was not allowed to be sold initially, as it was property of the royal court.
  • First String Quartet

    First string Quartet was composed around the 1750s, and was composed by Franz Xaver Richter. 2 Violins, a viola, and a cello. All voices were considered musically equal, and the genre quickly becoming a defining mark of the classical era.

    Classical Era

    The Classical era is characterized by a large amount of "form and structure" focused on symmetry and harmonic equality. An attempt to emulate the architecture of Greece and Rome in musical form. Important composers included Hadyn, Beethoven, and Mozart. Music was composed for the enjoyment of the players.

    Mozart's older sister, who was known to be equally skilled. Mozart wrote multiple works for her after she retired, mostly for her to enjoy playing and to critique.

    A blind pianist who had a near impeccable memory. Composed many different works, but most is lost to time.
