    Christopher Columbus discovers America.
    His voyages, and his efforts to establish permanent settlements in the island of Hispaniola, initiated the process of Spanish colonization, which foreshadowed the general European colonization of the "New World". Explanation- Because without Christopher Columbus discovering America we wouldn’t be here today.
  • Jamestown was the first English Colony

    Jamestown was the first English Colony
    Jamestown was a settlement located on Jamestown Island in the Virginia Colony. Founded as "James Fort" on May 14, 1607, it was the first permanent English settlement in what is now the United States of America. Explanation- This discovery was the start of America.
  • The Psalms Book was first book Published.

    The Psalms Book was first book Published.
    The book is a Psalter, first printed in 1640 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Psalms in it are metrical translations into English. The translations are not particularly polished or poetic, and none have remained in use, although some of the tunes to which they were sung have survived. Explanation- Without this we wouldn’t have all the good books we have today.

    The Great Awakening, the most important event in American religion during the eighteenth century, was a series of emotional religious revivals that spread across the American colonies in the late 1730s and 1740s. Explanation- It has such a big impact on American religion.
  • French and Indian War Begins.

    French and Indian War Begins.
    The French and Indian War is the common American name for the war between Great Britain and France in North America from 1754 to 1763. In 1756, the war erupted into the world-wide conflict known as the Seven Years' War and thus came to be regarded as the North American theater of that war. Explanation- It was a really important war for the Americans.

    The Stamp Act Congress was a meeting on October 19, 1765 in New York City of representatives from among the Thirteen Colonies. They discussed and acted upon the Stamp Act recently passed by the governing Parliament of Great Britain overseas. Explanation- It brought us to a higher level of technology.

    Boston Tea Party.
    In 1770, Parliament repealed all the Townshend duties except one, a duty on tea, to symbolize Parliament's right to tax the colonies. To avoid paying the duty, colonial merchants smuggled in tea illegally from the Netherlands. Explanation-

    State approves nations first constitution, Articles of Confederation.
    Under the Articles of Confederation, the national government was composed of a Congress, which had the power to declare war, appoint military officers, sign treaties, make alliances, appoint foreign ambassadors, and manage relations with Indians. Explanation- Gave us more Power.

    Bill of Rights is Ratified.
    The Constitutional Convention did include specific protections in the Constitution. Article VI restricted government interference with religion and speech. It also provided certain protections in criminal law. Explanation- It gave us more protected as a country.

    Eli Whitney invented Cotton Gin.
    Eli Whitney's invention of the cotton gin gave slavery a new lease on life. Between 1792, when Whitney invented the cotton gin, and 1794, the price of slaves doubled. Explanation- It helped slavery more.
  • Thomas Jefferson elected President.

    Thomas Jefferson elected President.
    Working closely with Aaron Burr of New York, Jefferson rallied his party, attacking the new taxes especially, and ran for the Presidency in 1800. On February 17, 1801, after thirty-six ballots, the House elected Jefferson President and Burr Vice President. Explanation- He was an effective leader. He stopped the importation of slaves, handpicked Lewis and Clark for their exhibition, reduced the country's debt by a third, wrote the Declarati

    Congress declares war against Britian.
    The Americans declared war in 1812 for several reasons, including a desire for expansion into the Northwest Territory, trade restrictions because of Britain's ongoing war of France, impressment of American merchant sailors into the Royal Navy, British support of American Indiantribes against American expansion, and the humiliation of American honor. Explanation- It began our fight for freedom.
  • Abraham elected President.

    Abraham elected President.
    In the face of a divided and dispirited opposition, the Republican Party, dominant in the North, secured enough electoral votes to put Abraham Lincoln in the White House with very little support from the South. Explanation- For strength and courage in his decision to go to war to prevent the nation from dividing, and being a tenacious commander in chief during the Civil War.
  • American Civil War Begins.

    American Civil War Begins.
    On February 7, the seven states adopted a provisional constitution for the Confederate States of America and established their temporary capital at Montgomery, Alabama. A pre-war February Peace Conference of 1861 met in Washington in a failed attempt at resolving the crisis. The remaining eight slave states rejected pleas to join the Confederacy. Explanation- At the end of the war, it ended slavery.
  • Titanic Sinks

    Titanic Sinks
    While the stern rose, the electrical system finally gave way causing the lights to go out. Shortly afterward, the stress on the hull caused Titanic to break apart between the last two funnels, and the bow section went completely under. The stern section righted itself slightly and then rose vertically. After a few moments, at 2:20Êam, it also sank. Explanation- An important event in history.

    1. The Great Depression 1929. The Great Depression began with the Wall Street Crash of October, 1929 and rapidly spread worldwide. The market crash marked the beginning of a decade of high unemployment, poverty, low profits, deflation, plunging farm incomes, and lost opportunities for economic growth and personal advancement.
    Explanation- Made a lot of people loose trust in the government and in banks across the nation.
  • World War II

    World War II
    World War II. was a global military conflict lasting from 1939 to 1945, which involved most of the world's nations, including all of the great powers: eventually forming two opposing military alliances, the Allies and the Axis. It was the most widespread war in history, with more than 100 million military personnel mobilised. Explanation- Saved a lot of people from the concentration camps.

This war followed the First Indochina War and was fought between North Vietnam, supported by its communist allies, and the government of South Vietnam, supported by the United States and other anti-communist nations. Explanation- An important war.

    The September 11 attacks (often referred to as September 11, September 11th or 9/11, in combination with the attacks' side effects on that day) were a series of four coordinated suicide attacks by al-Qaeda upon the United States on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Explanation- It made us more vulnerable.
