  • Fort Sumter, Charleston Harbor, South Carolina

    The Confederates won this battle and it was easy for them. Fort Sumter was the first battle of the war. It encouraged a lot of Northerners to join the Union Army. Licoln asked for 75,000 troops after the battle. More than 700,000 men signed up to fight for the Union Army by 1862
  • U.S.S Monitor vs. C.S.S Virginia, Virginia Coast

    This battle ended up being a tie, but it was a difficult battle for both sides. The U.S.S Monitor and the C.S.S Virginia were both very good ships. This battle was pointless, as it just weakened both sides. They lost lives and very good ships that could've served a better purpose.
  • Shiloh, Pittsburgh

    Even though it was a very difficut and bloody war to win, the Union won it. This battle was the bloodiest and deadliest battle of them all. More than 20,000 soldiers died or were wounded during this battle. At the end of this battle, the South lost control of the Mississippi Valley.
