In this battle, Confederate troops were once again stopped from progressing. This battle turned the tables since it was such an expensive batlle. After this battle, Lee was on the defensive for the rest of the war. He wouldn't last long. This battle started on the 2nd, but ended on the 4th. -

This battle was very important because this was a battle where Union won and successfully cut the Confederacy in half. Now, the supplies could not reach the battles in the East of the river. -
Battle of Sabine Pass
This battle was also very important because Union forces were trying to enter Texas again. If they got in, Texas would be in Jeopardy. However the Confederacy defended nicely, and the Davis Guards protected the Texas coast and kept Texas in Confederate hands. -
