South Carolina was the first southern state to leave the Union. And they left because Abraham Lincoln won the election of 1860 and they thought he was gonna get rid of their slaves.

This was a paper signed by Abraham Lincoln that set freedom to some slaves and allowed African Americans to fight in the war. And this was the first step to abolishing slavery.

Battle of Gettysburg

This was the 2nd time and the last time the South invaded the North. This was the deadliest battle of the war and it ended in a Northern victory which boosted morale.

Battle of Vicksburg

It was a big battle won by the North. And it was important because it completed the Anaconda plan.

54th Massachusetts Fight at Fort Wagner

The 54th Massachusetts was the most famous black regiment at the time and ever. And this was the first regiment that African Americans got to lead a battle.

Gettysburg Address

This was the most famous speech probably ever in American history and it was by Abraham Lincoln. And in this speech Lincoln tried boosting morale and inspiring people to continue the dead soldiers legacy.

Sherman's March to the Sea

This was a march made by Sherman across Georgia. And he did this because he wanted to destroy anything that supported his enemy because he understood that a country can't stand without the people.

13th Amendment Passed

Jan 31, 1865

It was probably the most important Amendment ever. It was made by Abraham Lincoln and it fully ended slavery.

Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse

Apr 18, 1865

This is where General Lee surrendered to Grant. And he did this because they lost their capitol and there was no hope left.
