  • Election of 1860

    The election of 1860 was when Abraham Lincoln became president. It was significant because South Carolina threaten to leave if he was elected. After the election they made good on their promise and left starting the civil war.
  • South Carolina Secedes

    South Carolina threatens to leave and does. That happened because Abraham was elected as president.
  • Attack on Fort Sumter

    It was the first battle after the election of 1860, it was an american civil war.
  • Battle of Bull Run/Manassas

    They wanted to capture the South's capital because that would cause them to lose so much power.
  • Battle of Antietam

    Union had won the battle. Was the bloodiest day in all history. first major win for the north.
  • Battle of Fredericksburg

    it was a battle between the union and the north.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    this was when the slaves were freed. Abraham Lincoln had signed the emancipation but it was only for the rebellion states because he didn't want the other border states to leave.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    it was the same thing a battle between the union and the confederates. this time they tried to invade the north to bring the civil war to an end.
  • Battle of Vicksburg

    vicksburg was the last stronghold of the confederates on the Mississippi river, the victory at vicksburg opened up the "deep South" to union control.
  • 54th Massachusetts Fight at Fort Wagner

    it was an unsuccessful assault that was just with African american's who were not slaves and they went off to fight in the war and it was led by the 54th massachusetts.
  • Gettysburg Address

    it was a speech from abraham lincoln, it talked about how it was a great battle. from the nation showing that they are strong those type of things.
  • Sherman’s March to the Sea

    it was a total war. "a war not only against enemy troops, but against anything that supports the enemy"
  • 13th amendment passed

    all slaves were freed. abolished slavery, prohibited involuntary servitude, nullified the fugitive slave act and the 3/5th compromise
  • Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse

    they had surrendered, most soldiers had no arms and they were begging to surrender. also i think the union made them surrender.
