Election of Lincoln
In 1860 Lincoln won the elections. He was the 19th president of the United States Of America. The South was not very pleased with this so conflic started. This is what started the civil war. -
Texas Secedes From the Union
In 1860 when Lincoln was elected Texas decided to seced from the Union. This was only 16 years after being anexed with the United States. Since Texas was in in the South they joined the Confereracy. In the Civil War they battled the Union. -
Sam Houston Kicked Out of Office
When Texas left the Union Sam Houston was in office. When a convention happened to decide what will Texas do. Sam Houston though wanted not to join the Confedracy. So HE left office. -
Battle of Fort Sumter
On April 12th, 1861 the Conferracy attacked Fort Sumter. It was not suspected so it caught the Union soldiers off guard. This is started the Civil War. During the battle 1 man on the Union side died while trying to retreat. The Confedrate won the battle. -
Battle of Galveston
The battle of Galveston was a battle in Galveston,Texas. The battle consisted on land and sea. In the sea the CS Neptune was damaged then sank while the Cs Bayou City took over the the USS Hariet Lane. The troops on land thought their ships surrendered so they surrendered. During the battle the Union lost 400 captured men and 2 gun boats. the Confedrate on the other hand lost 26 men and had 177 wounded and a gunboat. It is sayed the Confederate won the battle. -
Battle of Gettysburg
The battle of Gettysburg lasted from July 1st to July 3rd, 1863. This battle is now as the turning point of the war. During the battle the Union lost 23,055 men and the Confederate lost 23,231 men. The Union won the battle. -
Battle of Sabine Pass
The battle was when the Union sent men into Texas as an expedetion. The battle made Galveston captured by the Union. The battle had 3 Union ships sunk and the confederate lost 60 men. The Confederate won the battle. -
Red River Campain
The Red River Campain was a 3 month long period of battles on the Red River in Louisiana. The goal for the confederacy was to capture Mobile, Alabama. The Union lost 5,500 and the confedracy lost 4,300 men. The Confedrate won the thing because it was a Union fail. -
End of Civil War
This was the end part of the war lasted into mid-May. On May 10th the president of the Confedracy was captured. During the war 1,264,000. The Union won the war. -
Battle of Palmito Ranch
This is counted as the final battle of the Civil War. It took place in Brownsville,Texas. The Union lost 117 men the Confedracy lost 9 men. The Confedracy won this battle. -
Juneteenth
Juneteenth is the day when the U.S goverment annouced slavery was abolished. That day the slaves were set free. It includes rodeos, street fairs, family renuion,and cookouts. Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation to make this happen during the Civil War. -
Reconstruction Ends
After the Civil War America was divided. They had racial problems to murder. The Confedracy was no more and the South was now part of the U.S. This made it harder because the South didnt have slaves any more. Even with all these problems America came back to its naormal state like today.
