The Americans and Mexicans were fighting because we wanted the border to be on the Rio Grande, but the Mexicans wanted it to end further north. "Ol' Fuss and Feathers" captured Mexico City. We won the war and it started the treaty of Guadalope Hidalgo. The war costed $100 Million, 17 Months of war, 13,000 casualties, and debates.

    by the 1850s, northerners had came to believe that a southern slave power had seized control of the federal government and threatened to overturn republican ideals of liberty, equality, and self-rule. It was said to be economy inefficient and a tactic to expand slavery.

    Harriet Beecher StoweUncle Tom's Cabin is a book written by Harriet Beecher Stow. She wrote it in Brunswick Maine. Harriet wrote this book to show people how bad slavery really was because people really never knew till 1852. This book is said to have caused the war.

    Ostend Manifesto was a bill to invade Cuba. Cuba at the time was a Plantation Economy. The South wanted to invade because they claimed it was an issue of National Security and the North accuses them of wanting to expand slavery.

This showed how divided the country was. After his election conflict started. Southern plantation owners started rebellions and soon wanted to leave the Union. When they tried it started the Civil War.
