    Lincoln sent troops to reinforce the union-owned fort in south Carolina. The war started at 4:30 am and lasted for 34 hours. The south fired first and they won after the Union surrendered. Only a horse died in the entire battle. The people in south Carolina was unaware of the war and thought that the blast were fireworks.

    It started June 21,1861.The union forces headed to Rlichmond (the confederate capital) when they ran into 30,000 Confederates troops. Many pkcnikers from DC thought that this was the battle to end the civil war. They were surprised when the south won.

    Antietam Creek in Maryland owned by the Union. New reality of war with new weapons and lots of death. More people died in this battle than in the revolution, the war of 1812 and the mexican war combined, It was the greatest 1 day battle loss for Us ever. The south retreted because of the dead, so Union won.

    The batte lasted for 3 days and the 2nd day was the worst. The battle started because the south needed shoes and the north met up with them and battled. About 50,000 people died, that is about how much died in the vietnam war! This was the turning point of the war. Pickett tried to be like stonewall Jackson and give the south confidence to fight, but it failed and the north had a giant win.

    Th battle took place between May-July 1864 and had 40+ days of fighting. The last day of battle ended on July 4th. The victory allowed north to control the Mississippi River, and helped fulfill the anaconda plan. The North won the battle of Vicksburg.
  • Appomattox Courthouse

    Lee surendered wearing a full dressed unifrom. He had the intention of getting arested and killed for his crime. Grant didn't however and let him go home after he signed the surender treaty. He gave his army food and let them keep their horses and guns aslong as they didn't fight anymore. Lee thought this was a generous surender term so he accepted it.
