    Election of Lincoln
    Abraham Lincoln was not supposed to be elected because there were more Democrats. The Democrats split into two groups because they had different believes. There where more Republican votes because the Democrats split in to different groups, so Lincoln won the election. Abraham Lincoln served his term though the Civil War as the president for the north.
  • Texas Secedes from Union

    Texas Secedes from Union
    Texas was the 7th state to secedes from the Union. They elected Jefferson Davis as thier president for the Confederacy. Texas seceded because they wanted slaves. They also had many other differences than the Union. They voted on what they should do, most people decided they wanted to seceded, and they did.
  • Houston kicked out of office

    Houston kicked out of office
    Sam Houston was the governor for Texas. He got thrown out because wouldn't pledge allegiance to the Confeteracy. After he got kicked out of office, he moved back to his house. Sam Houston died on July 26, 1863.

    The Union would not surrender Fort Sumpter so the Confederacy ataked them.The Confederacy won this battle. This was the first battle in the civil war. It was important because this battle started the war.

    The battle of Galveston took place in the morning. The south sent ships to take over Galveston from the Union. A truce was called by the Union. The Confederacy successfully took over Galveston. In all 26 were killed in this battle.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    This battle was in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and It is known as the turning point in the war. The Union attacked the Confederacy and lost. After that battle they tried again, and this time the the Union won the battle. The Confeteracy lost 4,708 men and the Uoinon lost 3155 men.
  • Battle of Sabine Pass

    Battle of Sabine Pass
    The Sabine Pass was a river that the south used to carry goods to other parts of the south. The Unoin tried to blockade and take over the Sabine Pass, but they failed to take over the passage way from the Confederates. Twenty-eight people from the Union were killed during this battle. There were 0 people from the Confederacy killed during the battle of Sabine Pass.
  • Red River Campaign

    Red River Campaign
    The Red River Campaign was a series of battles, not just one. The Union wanted to take over control of the Red River. But the Union did not seceded on taking the Red River from the Confederacy. In all, there were about 9,800 soldiers killed during these battles.
  • End of Civil War

    General Robert E. Lee surrendered to the Union on April 9, 1865. The Civil War lasted for 4 years. The Civil war was was won by the Union. In all, about 625,000 soldiers where killed, and about 419,000 or more were wounded.

    This battle is known as the final battle of the Civil War. It took place on the Rio Grande. The Union attacked a Confederacy camp, called Palmito Ranch. The Confederacy won this battle. There were very few killed.

    Juneteenth is a holiday to celebrate the when many slaves where freed by the Emancipation Proclamation. The Emancipation Proclamation was made by Abraham Lincoln to free all slaves. 36 staes recognize Juneteenth as a holiday. Texas was the last state in the US to free slaves.

    The reconstruction was the time period after the Civil War. During this time, the government had to figure out how to deal with the states joining the Union again. They had to see how the southern people should be treated. And what was going to happen to the freed slaves.
