  • Dredd Scott decision

    In the Dredd Scott decision the court ruled against him saying"he is not an American citizen and that the constitution is protecting the slave owners properity.
  • John Browns raid

    John Browns raid was to arm enslaved people and start a revolt. It was at harpers ferry
  • Abe Lincoln is elected president

    The south said if Abe was elected president they would secede. He wanted to end slavery.
  • South Carolina secedes

    South Carolina secedes from the Union because they thought if Lincoln became president it would hurt there way of lif
  • Battle of fort sumter

    It started off the civil war. No one was killed on either side of the battle.
  • 1st battle of bull run

    The thought that they would win so much that families came and had a picnic. The north lost and had to flee to Washington D.C .
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    The Emancipation Proclamation declared all slaves free in the rebellious states. Abe Lincoln declared it in Gettysburg Pennsylvania.
  • Battle of Gettysburg begins.

    The north won the battle. It took place as a small skirmish but ended up killing 51,000 solders.
  • Sherman's march to the sea starts.

    He led 60,000 men on a 285-mile march from Atlanta to Savannah. Sherman said "make old and young, rich and poor, feel the hard hand of war."
  • The surrender at Appomattox court house.

    The surrender at the court house was when general Robert E. Lee surrendered to general Grant.
  • Lincoln's Assasination

    Lincoln was Assassinated in fords theater by John Wilkes Booth. In Washington D.C.
