    This battle occurred from April 12-13 in 1861. The battle was caused by a bombardment of Fort Sumter by the Confederate States Army, and the return of gunfire. The United States Army the surrendered which starting the Civil War.

    This battle lasted from March 8-9, 1862. It was one of the most important and noted naval battle of the Civil War. It was so important due to the massive development of the navies for the Union and Confederate.

    The battle lasted from May 18th, 1863 to July 4th, 1863. This was the final major military action in the Vicksburg Campaign during the Civil War. General Ulysses S. Grant and the Union army were able cross the Mississippi River and drove the Confederate out and the Union was able to capture the second part of the Northern Strategy.

    The battle lasted from July 1-3, 1863. The Battle of Gettysburg ended in a Union victory which stopped Robert E. Lee's second invasion of the North. During this battle, there were 50,000 casualties which made this the bloodiest battle of the Civil War.

    This lasted from February, 1864 to April 1865. This prison camp is where the former Camp Sumter was. The prison camp was a confederate prison-of-war camp during the last year of the Civil War.
  • Sherman's March to Sea

    This lasted from November 15, 1864 to December 21, 1864. General William T. Sherman led about 60,000 soldiers on a 285 mile march from Atlanta to Savannah, Georgia. The purpose of this march was to frighten the civilians into abandoning the Confederate cause.
  • Battle of Bentonville

    Battle of Bentonville
    This battle lasted from March 19th-21st in 1865. It was fought in Bentonville, North Carolina as part of the Carolina's Campaign during the Civil War. This was the last battle between General Sherman and General Johnston. As a result of the great Union strength and heavy causalities of the Confederate Army, Johnston surrendered to Sherman.

    The battle started early in the morning and was one of the last battles of the Civil War. This battle was also the first engagement of Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant. In the end, Lee surrendered to the Union Army due to the lack of supplies left for the army.
