Lincoln wanted to be lenient with South, he said they didn't need to be punished, the country needed to heal. He wanted to rebuild South's economy. He died before he could carry out any plans of this.

Union Victory, this was the final battle in the Civil War. General Lee's army disbanded, ending the battle and the war.

John Wilkes Booth, a well-known actor, went into the President's booth in Ford's Theatre and shot him in the back of the head. The next morning, President Abraham Lincoln died. A week later, Booth was found and killed.

Abolished slavery, after Lincoln's death, as part of reconstruction. Didn't give African Americans same rights though.
