Missouri Compromise
The Missouri Compromise wanted to join the Union as a slave state.This would upset the balance between the free states in Congress. So the U.S admitted Maine and Missouri at the same time. Source :Map -

Kansas-nabraska Act
The countries split in two potential states.Congress passed a law that would determine whether the states would enter in a free or slave state.Anti-slavery supporters rushed to Kansas to try to sway the the votes for the election.There was so many violence that it became known as the "Bleeding Kansas"as people died.

Freedmen's Bureau
Helped the free slaves. It provided the blacks with food,clothing, and shelter.Settled fights with the owners.It made justice for slaves in court.Unfortinly schools did't want whites and blacks together. -
Sharecropping
Farmers agreed to exchange their labor and a portion of their crops in return for land to work on.Brought nothing but their labor into the agreement.Blacks had to buy certain necessities from the landowner's store.Caused many to find them selfs in deeply indepted to the the landowner and decreased their chances to get out of the system. -
KKK
Members had an underground campaign of intimidation and violence white republicans.They killed immigrants,Catholics, Jews, and blacks.They bombed black schools and churches, because they wanted everything to be normal again.
