The battle of Chickamauga occurred near the Tennessee River. This battle started September 18th and lasted till September 20th. The confederate army took the win at this battle, although it took a toll on their troops form fierce fighting for multiple days. -
The battle of Chattanooga started on November 23rd and lasted until November 25th. The result of this battle was one of the most dramatic turnabouts, the Union forces had driven confederate troops away from Chattanooga. With this result the Union won this battle. -
The battle of the Wilderness started on May 5th and lasted until May 7th of 1864. This battle was neither a win or loss for either army. After the two days of battle both sides were where they started. -
The battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse started on May 8th and lasted until May 21st of 1864. The Union lost 18,000 troops and the Confederates lost 12,000 troops. The battle ended by Grant The Union tried multiple times to break the Confederate line but failed. -
The battle of Cold Harbor started on May 31st and lasted until June 12th of 1864. Both armies held their ground until June 12th when Grant withdrew but continued to move east and south. As a result the Confederate army won this battle. -
The battle of Atlanta occurred on July 22nd, 1864. The Union gained this victory. This victory helped the Union out a lot, they were able to move forward which led to William's most famous operation.
