There were a total of about 4,800 soldiers killed, wounded, missing or captured. The battle was fought in Virginia. The Commanders were Irvin McDowell on the Union side & Joseph E Johnston and P.G.T Beauregard. The Confederates won by breaking the Union right flank.

    The Commanders in this battle were Don Carlos Buell and Ulysses S Grant for the Union. For the Confederacy the Commanders were Albert Sidney Johnston and P.G.T Beauregard. The battle is in Tennessee. The Confederacy attacked first, this was a surprise attack against the Union. They didn't have time to prepare defense. The Union still won. The war ends one day later on the 7th.

    There were 6 different battles in Virginia. The Union army was run by Major General George B. McClellan. The Confederates army was run by General Robert E Lee. The Union had 100,000 men in this battle. The Confederacy had 5,600 men. The Confederacy won when McClellan retreated.

    Battle of Vicksburg

    This battle takes place in Mississippi. There were 77,000 union soldiers run by Ulysses S Grant, and 33,000 Confederate soldiers run by John C Pemberton. the Union is trying to destroy the river fortress in Vicksburg made by the Confederacy. Grant finds a new attack and conducts a surprise landing below Vicksburg. After the attack the Confederacy has no choice but to retreat. The Union won the attack.

    Largest battle in the Civil War. Around 51,000 soldiers dead, wounded, captured, or missing after the war. The Confederates attacked first in this battle. General Robert E Lee put all his strength on attacking Major General George G Meade's army. In the end of the war the Union won.

    General John Bell Hood lead the Confederate states and Major General William T Sherman lead the Union. The Confederate states attack. They are trying to get the Union out of Georgia. They lead the army towards Nashville. The Union won the battle.

    Battle of Appomattox Court House

    Union armies cut off the Confederate retreat to the Appomattox Courthouse. Robert E Lee tried to break through. He didn't have the power he surrendered. He signed the surrender documents in Wilmer McLeans house that afternoon. On the 12th of April they have a formal ceremony to end the war in Virginia. sends a message signaling many surrenders throughout the south. This leads to the end of the war.
