    Under the orders of the confederate president Jefferson Davis, confederate forces bombarded Fort Sumter in Charleston S.C. This was the officail start of the war. Lincoln called for the states to send troop to help recapture the fort. Arkanas, Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina refused to send troops and declared their secession.

    The Anacoda Plan was a strategy practiced by the union. The purpose of the Anaconda was to blockade all southern ports. The south could barely export 10% of their cotton, which nearly destroyed their economy.

    The March began after Sherman's sucessful Alanta Campaign. From Altanta he started a campaign to capture Savanah Georgia. Along the way he destroyed the Conderate railroad, burned fields, and killed livestock.
