    Also known as as the Battle of Sharpsburg. It was the first major battle in the Civil War to take place on Northern soil. It was the bloodiest single-day battle in American history.

    This was one of the largest and deadlest battles of the Civil War. The Confederates took the victory of this battle. Robert E. Lee exclaimed “It is well that war is so terrible, or we should grow too fond of it.”
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Its is an executive order issued by Abraham Lincoln. It proclaimed the freedom of 3.1 million of the nation's 4 million slaves. The Proclamation did not make the ex slaves citizens. It didnt cover Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland or Delaware.

    This battle was another major battle in the Civil War. Chancellorsville is known as Lee's "perfect battle." It resulted in a significant Confederate victory.

    This was the final major military action in the Vicksburg Campaign of the Civil War. The city of Vicksburg would not celebrate Independence Day for about eighty years as a result of the siege and surrender.

    This battle had the largest number of casualties in the Civil War. It is often described as the war's turning point. Between 46,000 and 51,000 soldiers from both armies were casualties in the three-day battle.

    They used the term "total war." It started at Atlanta and ended in Sanvannah. Sherman interduced a new military style by operating deep in enemy lines.
  • Appomattox

    The Appomattox battle took place in Appomattox County, Virginia. This was the final major battle of the Civil War. General Lee surrendered to General Grant and the American Civil War came to an end.
