This would hurt the South's economy and make it much more difficult to wage war. Next, The North would control take control of the Mississippi to cut off the South. This would be the key to winning the war.

    This would be the First land battle fought in the Civil war and would result in a Confederate Victory. This legitamized the war and proved that defeating the South would not be as easy as first thought.

    The Battle of Hampton roads would last two days and include the infamous battle of Ironclads. The C.S.S Virginia would face off against the U.S.S Monitor and the battle would prove to be a draw. With both ships damaging each other but neither would sink. This would be the first time Ironclads would fight against each other in History.

    President Lincoln would put the Emancipation Proclamation into effect thus freeing all slaves and turning the Civil War into a war about abolishing slavery and reuniting the country. This would anger the south but gain Lincoln praise in the north.

It would prevent General Lee from invading the North and would be the bloodiest battle of the entire Civil War. In the months following the battle, President Lincoln would give the Gettysburg Address this would unite the North and boost morale for the soldiers and the country.

He would burn and ravage the land leaving many homeless and destroying anything in his way. This would be the final straw for the south as the people would be broken by this brutal tactic.

    After the battle of Appomattox, General Lee would call a meeting with General Grant. This would be the end of the Army of Northern Virginia. General Lee would surrender to General Grant and thus end the civil war after four bloody years of fighting.
