    The Election of Lincoln of cuased south carolina to secede. This also followed the seccesion of other states and the civil war. Although many southern states did not have lincoln on the ballot he still won.

    It was the first state to join the confederacy. It also held the first battle of the civil war. Aswell the first shots of the war were shot at chareslton
  • Battle of Fort Sumpter.

    This was the first battle of the civil war. No one from either side was killed. The Union surrended on April 14.
  • Battle of Bull Run

    The First Battle of Bull Run was the first major land battle of the war. Bloodiest battle up to this point. Both sides faced major casualties.
  • Battle of Monitor and Merrimack

    The Battle of Hampton Roads was a well-known naval battle of the Civil War. It was also the first battle between two ironclad ships, the Monitor and the Merrimack. In the end neither side was declaired the winner
  • Battle of Antietam

    The Battle of Antietam was the first battle of the war to take place on Northern soil. It was the the bloodiest day in the American Civil War, with a total of over 23,000 casualties including more than 4,800 killed.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Was issued by Lincoln and said that all slaves were free of serveitude. This enraged the south and made them angrier. It freeded about 3 million slaves in the south.
  • Battle and Capture of New Orleans

    This battle which was won by the north helped gain control of the mississippi river. This capture helped the north keep the south from getting any supplies. It was also the largest confederacy city.
  • Battle of Vicksburg

    With no reinforcement and all supplies gone while holding out for 40 days the confederates surrendered on July 4.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    The Battle of Gettysburg was the bloodiest battle of the war, with a total of over 46,000 casualties – nearly 8,000 of which were killed.It lasted 3 days and it was know as the turning point in the war.
  • Lincolns Plan

    Proclamation of Amnesty (10% Plan) Which was the way southerners could be pardoned and reinstated as U.S. citizens if they took an oath to the Union. 10% Plan was when 10% of the population of a state had taken the oath that the state could have a new government in place. Radical Republicans didn't like Lincolns plan because they wanted to treat the south like conquered territory

    Lincoln became president again although it did not last long becasue of his assination.
  • Congressional Plan

    If born in the U.S.A you were a citizen
    Tennessee was the last to sign this. Military Reconstruction gave conditions under which southern state government could be formed. Dvided southern states into 5 military district
  • Lee's Surender

    Lee surenderd at Appamatox Courthouse after the sheridans victory. All Confederate troops surendered after they heard lee surender
  • Lincolns Assanation

    Lincoln was killed by John Wilks Both at ford theatre. Both then escaped to the only open brigde to virginia.
  • Johnson Plan

    Amnesty Proclamation punished the south aristocracy. Any Confederate who owned taxable property in excess of 20,000 acres would not be pardoned but could apply to be pardoned.
  • Klu Klux Klan

    This Klan was a group of white people who attcked and sometimes killed blacks becasue of there new rights. Also they would attack some whites who had diffrent views than them.
  • 13th Admendment

    Abolished slavery through out the u.s. Though things such as the blacks codes made it hard.
  • 14th Admendment

    This admendment gave all U,S equal right such as life, and liberty. The south did not like this but were forced do ratify it if they wanted to be part of the union.
  • 15th Amendment

    Gave blacks the right to vote. Although many southerns hated this and did not let them vote.
