    Many Election of 1860 people were hoping that the Republicans would not take over the Election of 1860. Southerners let everyone know that if repblicans ended up winning the election, that they would secede. Their were many difficulties in the south, such as slavery, With all of the things that the south had faced, they really depended on this election.On November 6, 1860 Abraham Lincoln was elected president of the United States.

    South Secedes After Lincoln was elected president South Carolina seceded from the union. Texas, Mississippi, Lousiana, Georgia, Florida and Alabama also seceded from the union that Febuary. Shortly after, they all came together in Alabama. While they were there, they formed something called the Confederate States of America. These states all wrote a Constitution and elected Jefferson Davis president of the confederate states.

Fort Sumter was a fort that entered in to The Charelston Harbor in South Carolina. Finally Fort Sumter surrendered and LIncoln announced that all Seceded states were now in rebellion. This was the dawning of the Civil War.

Lee gave up and was forced into surrendering to Grant when they were in Appomattox Courthouse. Almost 620,000 Americand passed away during the four years of the Civil war. Today the Civil war is known as the most deadly war in U.S. history.
