    A German physicist finds the rod-shaped bacterium as the main part of causing tuberculosis. Earned the nobel peace prize for physiology and medicine in 1905. This became a large beginning to the findings of the cure for the worldwide disease.

    This is up from about 1 billion in 1800. Since then, the population has increased astronomically. The difference has been extremely important in history.

    The case, Brown v. Board of Education really was a large part of desegregating schools in the 1950's. It turned out that "separate but equal" was really something unconstitutional and unfair. There was a lot of backlash in the white community about this situation, the percentage of white kids in schools alone was still high as to compared to black students.

    Explorer I was the first American satellite launched successfully. It was the first spacecraft to detect a Van Allen Radiation Belt, giving out information until its battery was exhausted in about four months. Sputnik 1 & 2 were launched prior as a part of the space race.
