I. A white passenger asked a black lady by the name of Rosa Parks to move so he coul sit in her seat. Rosa denied the man. The bus driver was brought into this and still she denied him. Afterwards, a police officer came onto the bus and arrested her.
II. The resullt was the start of the Montgomery Bus Boycotts. -

I. The Supreme Court passed this law.
II. The law stated that there would be no discrimination in public schooling. Many southern states protested this. -
I. At Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, nine colored students walked up the steps of this all white school. They started their new student lives at a totally segregated school and this started the desegregation of Little Rock.
II. The government sent members of the national guard to protect these students from the mean white students. -

I. The Freedom Riders were a group of people that rode the public bus systems into the deep south to test the Supreme Court's justice systems.

I. Medgar was a civil rights leader who was the first NAACP feild secretary in Mississippi. He organized many boycotts in his position.
II. Evers was returning home from a meeting and as he got out of his car hee was shot. He was taken to a hospital and was originally denied due to his race. That was until they found out who he was and he died in the hospital. -

II. These marches faced the oppositions of state troopers and the politicians who were against integration. The troopers fought with billy clubs and tear gas but the marchers pressed on.

I. Marshall was a lawyer who was successful against the supreme court. An example of his work is the Brown v. Board case.
II. I think this is monumental because it showed that blacks were finally getting a chance at better jobs in higher positions. -

I. When King arrived he immediately started recieving threats. After King had told a musician to play a specific song at a meeting, he walked onto a balcony and was shot. He was rushed to a hospital where he died.
II. African Americans were impacted because they lost their greatest leader in history. The whites were upset because of the way that they had threatened him and how they never gave the other race a chance.
