  • Plessy v. Ferguson

    Plessy v. Ferguson
    This lead to the saying "seperate but equal". This also led to the Jim Crow laws.
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    Brown v. Board of Education
    Thurgood Marshal was the Naacp lawyer. Earl Warren was the cheif Justice.
  • Emmit Till

    Emmit Till
    Emmit Till was murder burtily by the white. He was killed for trying to get with a white women. His body was shown in an open casket to show how bad he was beat.
  • Rosa Parks

    Rosa Parks
    Rosa Parks was aressted on December 1, 1955. She was aressted for not moving seats on a bus for a white guy. She was a major part in changing the ways for Black people.
  • Little Rock Nine

    Little Rock Nine
    The Little Rock nine were the first nine black kids to join a white school. They had to have president Esinhower give them protection from the whites. Was a good start for blacks rights.
  • SNCC

    The SNCC was a student meeting organized by Ella Baker held at Shaw University in April 1960. It was to give black people more of a say in things. One of the more racial branches.
  • Freedom rides

    Freedom rides
    This allows all interstate rides to be open to all races. Blacks would fill bus and go fill white facilities. People were bombing them and it lead to the Sncc.
  • Medgar Evers

    Medgar Evers
    Medgar Evers was an African American civil rights activist from Mississippi that worked to change segregation at the University of Mississippi. He had plans to also gain social justice and voting rights. But he was killed June 12, 1963.
  • "I Have a Dream" Speech

    "I Have a Dream" Speech
    The "I have a dream" speech is one of the most iconic speechs that there has ever been. MLK's speech was reached all over the country. This change the way Blacks were treated.
  • March on Washington

    The March on washingtons purpose was to create jobs and freedom for African Americans. It was one of the biggest Marches in US history that demanded civil and economic rights for African Americans. This was where MLK gave his "I have a Dreem" speech.

  • Malcolm X

    Malcolm X was a scary person for all white people. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a crime. Then broke away from Black Muslim and then they later killed him.
  • Selma, Alabama

    The March on Selma was to protest the act of police burtality. There were 600 people that Marched 54 miles. It was also called "bloody Sunday" because of the police attacks, which cause more people to support the march.
  • Black Panther party

    In this they carried guns to fight back with the police. They were also self-determined and created land, housing, food and etc. for themselves.
  • MlK

    MLK was sniped while on a balcony in Memphis Tennessee. This led to 120 riots in the cities. MLK was the leader in changing Black African American Rights.
  • fair housing act

    The fair housing act says that prohibition makes it unlawful to refuse to sell, or rent because of the persons race. Allows blacks to not be denied from buying a house.
