    On May 8, 1954 the supreme court made a decision to desegregate schools. It was an important actions during the movement, its what "kickstarted" the civil rights movement. It made people think why can't we desegregate everything esle.

    Little Rock Nine
    These were the first black students put into a white school. During the first day trying to get the students into the Little Rock High School, but people wouldn't allow them into the high school. So the President called the 101st airborne. The kids had a guard to protect them if anyone would attack them. This help give the Black people hope that they can have the same oppertunities as white kids.

    Emmett Till
    Emmett Till was a boy from Chicago who was visiting his uncle in Mississippi. Later on Emmett was kidnapped and killed. They could hardly identify the body. The two men who said they killed Emmett were set free. This showed people how the south really was , and this helped people really start the civil rights movemnt.

    Rosa Parks was the beginning of the Montgomery bus boycott. The reason why she was arrested was she wouldn't give her seat up to a white man. So after that people didn't get on the buses, because they were segregated. They didn't go on the bus for one year. After the year the buses were desegregated. This helped the movement by making public transpertation equal.

    This is event to where black people sat at the diners and would not leave until they got served. Even though they never were rude to the people they got attacked by white people. The Black people were arrested instead of the white who attack them. This was a an Important role to the movement, because it made public places desegregated.
  • Freedom Riders

    Freedom Riders is when people rode on buses in the south to break up the segregation in coach buses. They were beat up and one bus was set on fire. This helped the movement by seeing how the south was racist. So it made the black community look better with the civil rights movement.
  • "I Have a Dream"

    This speech is involved with one of the most important speeches in american history. This speech helped get the word out saying that they were done with the racism is the United States. This gave the black community hope.

    This act was established so that people got paid the same for work, and that you can't hire someone on the race, sex, or any other thing that can be used against them. This helped with the Black community, because it gave everyone the equal income. So it gave them the chance to have the best life possible for them.

    Most of the black community marched from Selma, Alabama to the capital in Montgomery, Alabama. They did this for voting rights in the south. These people were nonviolent and they were met with waters hoses and police dogs. This helped out the Civil rights movement, because it was publicized and it made the United States look Racist.

    In 1965 the black community got their voting rights. This was important, because it gave the black people a voice. It made more involved and made them gain more power and they almost won all of the same rights as black people.
