  • Malcolm X

    Malcolm X was an African american leader who was also the voice of the Black Muslim Faith. He believed in a non-violent approach o end segregation which he tried to accomplish until he was assassinated in 1965, February 21st.
  • Martin Luther King

    Martin was an American Baptist Minister. He was also a social activist, and like Malcolm X led the world out of segregation with non-violent ways. He did so until his assassination in 1968. He is most known for his "i have a dream" speech.
  • Sit-in challenge

    The sit-in challenge was a movement where African american students would go ask for something in a white only restaurant or parlor and when refused would sit patiently, despite the threats, name calling etc.
  • Integration of ole’ miss

    On the University of Mississippi in Oxford riots started sprouting. The locals, students, and committed segregationists had gathered to protest the enterance of James Meredith, a black Air Force veteran attempting to integrate the all-white school.
  • Clash in Birmingham

    It was an organization from the south to bring attention to the unfair treatment to African Americans in Alabama Birmingham. They faced legal and economic problems, as well as violent treatment. There were many protests and they began with a boycott to pressure business leaders to provide opportunities for jobs to all races.
  • Assassination of Martin Luther King

    Martin Luther King Jr. an american clergyman and civil rights leader was shot on April 4th 1968 in Tennessee at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis. St. Joseph's Hospital, where he died at 7:05 p.m.
