    Taiping Rebellion

    The Taiping Rebellion was a civil war in southern China that lasted from 1850 to 1864, it was against the Manchu-led Qing dynasty. It was a movement led by Hong Xiuquan, who had received visions in which he thought that he was the younger brother of Jesus. At least 20 million people died, most civilians, in one of the deadliest military conflicts in history.
